Fast, efficient and reliable digital content distribution will provide a big competitive advantage for media organizations that have time-sensitive data transport requirements. As more rich media content becomes available in a wide range of digital formats, superior distribution and management capabilities will become a key business requirement.

As the media business evolves, and companies are looking to mix both content with distribution, Disney must make some changes.

This agreement, which marks our largest distribution deal outside the US, is great news for viewers, who will now be able to access an even broader array of Disney content, either through their TVs or via broadband on personal computers.

We continue to believe content is becoming more and more valuable as distribution outlets proliferate. Disney more than any other media company needs high-profile content (characters) to leverage throughout its theme parks, networks, consumer products and Internet businesses.

Comcast would be a monolithic and powerful distribution house with a lack of content. QVC and the Golf Channel don't do it for me and Disney is content rich.

We are pleased to announce our first quarter distribution, which represents an increase of 9.1% above the fourth quarter distribution amount. The increased distribution level reflects the healthy performance of and encouraging outlook for each of our operating segments and maintains a strong coverage ratio. Video was inevitable in digital audio players; to actually build the consumer demand portion of that, there really needs to be compelling content.
