That takes money: There's no way around it. A 16-ounce can of food won't feed very many people in a shelter, but a truckload of No. 10 cans will.

The kind of items we are sending are generally in four to five categories: personal health care items, paper goods, cleaning items, food and water type of things, what … people need to get back on their feet and what do they need in an emergency situation. What we do is probably on the external edge of how much sharing is involved. We share everything -- the house, the health care, the food and basic household items, like toothpaste and soap. When you live in this community, you get all your basic needs met, in exchange for working for the benefit of the group.

This is reasonable legislation. Food and water are basic care ? not medicine?. To withdraw this basic human need when the purpose is to cause death without the express will of the patient is simply inhumane.

What a response. The Ironwood community has responded with overwhelming generosity. Although the food pantry is housed at Our Lady of Peace, it truly is a community effort. Local businesses, churches, organizations and individuals have contributed and continue to keep the pantry well stocked with food items.

The Irish people, who are commonly thought of as peasants, have developed a cuisine using these kinds of items that, for them, are common food. For them it's not high-end items. For them it's regular food.

Expanding our Supply Chain Solutions to include planning capabilities was a logical step in continuing to offer our food and grocery customers solutions that help them effectively balance supply and demand. When you are dealing with perishable items, effective inventory management and accurate forecasting are essential.

The suffering is overwhelming. Sometimes they have food left, but all their water is gone. Every second is critical.
