en Burr & Burton struggled tonight. Our defense is solid but we still need to work on offense. We worked on blocking schemes this week.

en He did a good job at disrupting things. Erik is so darn quick at the nose man, he creates a lot of problems for offensive blocking schemes. (And at linebacker), he has a nose for the football.

en The team is ready to play and is wanting to get the whistle blowing. A lot of the new things we have installed and the new things that we have been working on are starting to show. The team has been really successful in the drills and the things that we have been really focused on, which have been blocking and defense.

en I think (the 3-4) gives opposing teams problems with their blocking schemes. It's not like they can go out there and identify the coverage or blitz packages like they can in a regular 4-3 defense. We can show them some different fronts to try and confuse them from the get-go and do whatever we can to get them off beat.

en You have to learn offensive blocking schemes and especially when rushing the passer you get blocked differently, ... Larry had to call some (assignments) for us on Sunday with Corey not as familiar with what we're doing. Montae has always done that the last two years. Larry did a good job of getting us into some of the right things.

en At first, they kind of pinned us down easily, and we really weren't getting after our blocks the way we needed to. We made some adjustments to our blocking schemes, and then we got things going.

en We kind of started that game like we hadn't played in a while. Once we got into the flow of things, we understood what their defense was doing and we understood where the open shots were.

en We knew their defense was going to cause us to play faster than we're used to. A lot of times that leads to poor execution and turnovers. We had a good week of practice preparing for this weekend and one of the things this weekend was being able to execute offensively at a higher pace, and we were able to do that.

en I thought we had some great highlights today at the net. We have been working hard to improve our blocking, and felt we excelled in the blocking skills that we have been working on this past week.

en Fundamentals are the key. Defensively, we work on tackling and block defeat. Those are the two things we have to work on every day. Any good defense does those things every day. Offensively, we have to work on blocking and protecting the football. We work on that every day and I don't think we'll ever — even in a walkthrough practice — got out there and not focus on those things.
