en It's not easy to see the pain they're in. As an athlete or a coach, you hope to get into a situation where you can have a chance to win again, but for them, it's over. It's very tough for them.

en Pain, you just have to ride it out, hope it goes away on its own, hope the wound that caused it heals. There are no solutions, no easy answers, you just breath deep and wait for it to subside. Most of the time pain can be managed but sometimes the pain gets you where you least expect it. Hits way below the belt and doesn't let up. Pain, you just have to fight through, because the truth is you can't outrun it and life always makes more.

en It was real hard to see coach go through all of that. He's like a dad to us all. Seeing him go through the pain was really tough. We all had to come together.

en Every athlete has a piece of toughness. You need to be mentally tough to train hard because it hurts. And oftentimes, as a growing athlete, you make more mistakes than you don't. Frustration and injuries happen, and you've got to be tough to keep going.

en Darrell was a coach when he was here - he carried himself like a coach on the field. He always thought like a coach. He wasn't a gifted athlete but he always knew where to go with the ball. I don't think there was ever any question what he wanted to do. He was going to coach some day.
