Last year seven of ordsprog

Last year seven of our eight losses were by one goal. With experience they're the ones we expect to win this year.

We finished tied for sixth last year in the conference. Always, doing well in conference is our main goal. She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine. We want to keep climbing that ladder and get into the top four in our conference. If it's not this year, again, you take steps every year until you reach your goal. That's kind of where we're at right now. We're just now starting to lay that foundation. Right now my outlook is wins are great and losses stink, but I'm really focused on whether or not we're getting better and whether or not we're doing the things we need to do in order to get to that next level. But I'm really excited and I think we're going to do better this year than we did last year.

Expectations don't bother us, because we expect to win ourselves. Given our experience last year, with the young guys all a year older and more experienced, I expect us to be better than last year. It wouldn't be a good situation if nobody expected you to be able to win. But our fans and the city expect us to win, and so do we.

Being at the state meet last year was all about gaining experience. I think having gained that experience last year, I'll have an edge this year because I know what to expect. Hopefully I can have another great showing and I'll be able to place.

I expect a huge leap. They both had such good years last year, and you know from experience how much easier your second year is from your rookie year. We expect big improvements.

Now we have some experience and the kids know what to expect. Our goal this year is to be more competitive.

We learned a lot this year from the wins and losses. Hopefully in the playoffs it will get us where we want to go. That was our goal all year, to get another opportunity to try to make that run.

It's been our goal every year to get to the NCAA tournament, and every year once we've gotten here it's been our goal to get to the Sweet 16. We're a little more prepared coming in. ... We know what to expect now.

Kevin is a versatile player who gives us options because of his ability to play safety or cornerback. Last year was his first year with safety as his primary position, and I expect him to take giant steps this year, building on the year's experience he had.

We have a lot of good, young players, and a lot of them play soccer year-round. Anything can happen. We didn't expect to be where we are now. Our goal is to sneak a game or two from the big three this year. And next year, there's no reason why we can't be competitive with anyone.

[Still, Saturday's announcement was something of a surprise only because Nelson had said he was going to stay through next year.] I'm in my last years as a coach, ... I'm going to retire. I have this one and one more [year on my contract]. I expect to coach til the end. I want Avery to get some experience this year and get some more next year. I'm going to be a consultant for five years in Dallas.

Grady has really developed as a player. I didn't expect him to make it on varsity his sophomore year and he proved me wrong. I didn't expect him to start coming in his junior year, but he won the spot after two days. But, what I did expect is this year and the way he's played all year long. And, the one word to sum him up is tough.

We should be better than we were last year. I'd be disappointed if we weren't showing improvement. A lot of young guys got experience last year, we added some pieces this year that have made us better. The longer guys spend in a system, the better they should get. We're not there yet, and we can get a lot better. But I think everyone's encouraged by the progress we're showing. Our next step is to turn the losses into wins. We need to get to a point where we're not happy just to be competitive.

We're getting better. My goal is to compete at the national level. We expect to next year and the year after that.

We learned from last year. Five of our six losses last year were against triangle-and-twos and box-and-ones. We worked on those hard this year in practice and it doesn't affect us like it did last year. It was a total team effort by all of them.
