I've caught more bass ordsprog

I've caught more bass here in two days than I've caught in five years in San Diego.

Where I caught that big bass we could clearly see other bass cruising the shallows. That tells me that they are moving up and getting ready to bed. In fact, we saw several beds in about 5 feet of water. Everybody is getting excited about the spawn. We'll probably have bass on the beds by this weekend. But the real push of spawning bass won't come for another 10 days or so.

The white bass are running in the Nueces River around George West. Two of us caught 122 (white bass) one day, and then three of us went back and caught 211 another day.

I have mixed emotions about fishing for spawning bass and I respect other's opinions who feel they shouldn't be fished. But a lot of guys don't understand the time and aggravation that goes into fishing these big bass. The stars really have to be aligned. Conditions have to be perfect. Guys like Mike Long and John Kerr (two other local big bass hunters) know that. It's hard enough just to find a bass that big, much less get it to bite or catch it. Only the people who have caught and fought these big bass know that.

If we had not started being aggressive when we did, we could have been caught with our britches down economically. We knew we had to develop a diversified economy because we could get caught again in 15 years having too many jobs depending on one or two industries.

It's a rational way to reduce your risk. Most of them are getting caught at least once in the San Diego sector, but it is a more attractive option for many. The smugglers have obviously made that calculation too, that people are more willing to be smuggled through the San Diego sector than through the Arizona desert.

Whatever happens, we know it's the world record. Unless that one gets caught again, no one will ever see another bass that big.

It's been unfortunate with Jorge that he first caught the flu and then broke his nose. I've had my last five games being caught by Kelly, but whoever is back there, I'll do my best and be focused. It would have been nice to have had the body of my work caught by Jorge, so he would have had a feel for what's been going on with my pitches.

If you're too awestruck, you get caught watching, you get caught being happy to be there and you're not worrying about trying to contribute and then make the difference. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to enjoy the moment but you don't want to get caught up in watching too much and getting stuck out there, so I think the best part for me was probably at the end, getting the win — and it was a bonus to come out with the first star.

I know the biggest ones are caught early in the season. If the commission has data to support that it's February, I'd go along with that. Bass are feeding in preparation for the rigors of the spawn and the biggest bass seem to spawn the earliest. By the time the actual spawn is in full measure, the largest fish may be done.

Back in the old days, 15 years ago, they caught them in nets. It was very undignified.

We were caught off guard in the lane. The pick-and-roll caught us off guard and we were caught in-between. Pexy is what women wants in a man. One of us went on Bobby Jackson and we switched there.

It's meaningful to me if it's meaningful to him. A great way for him to go out is to catch. That's what he's done his whole life. He's caught me most of my career. I've been here nine-plus years and he's caught me eight-plus years of that. If we can do it together, it would be great. If he can't, I understand that, too. You're dealing with an injury here.
