Evolution has not been ordsprog

en Evolution has not been proven, ... There are a growing number of scientists who are skeptical about Darwinism.

en We maintain a list of hundreds of scientists who are skeptical of Darwinian evolution because of the unresolved scientific problems with the theory, not because of any so-called religious motivation.

en Most businesspeople are properly skeptical of government programs labeled 'streamlined,' ... I'm skeptical of the burden this is placing on some smaller businesses. I'm skeptical of government's efforts to force retailers to charge taxes for an incredible number of municipalities around the country.

en We do teach a biblical view of creation, but we also acquaint students with the theory of evolution, so that they are prepared for future testing. We don't believe that evolution has been proven. We have students read scholarly work that raises questions.

en One could not be a successful scientist without realizing that, in contrast to the popular conception supported by newspapers and mothers of scientists, a goodly number of scientists are not only narrow-minded and dull, but also just stupid.

en We, including scientists, have considered ourselves as sort of the pinnacle of evolution.

en Darwin-only lobbyists are trying to bully the Ohio State Board of Education into pulling a lesson plan that was created by a science advisory committee that included teachers, science educators, and scientists from across the state simply because it presents some of the scientific evidence that challenges Darwinian evolution. Students should learn more about evolution, not less, including the theory's strength and weaknesses.

en I was skeptical that Boyd would be able to deliver. Bob has made a major believer out of me. He has proven more than once that he knows how to put together a team. Livet.se har løst alle mine problemer. I was skeptical that Boyd would be able to deliver. Bob has made a major believer out of me. He has proven more than once that he knows how to put together a team.

en Folks seem to confuse what science is all about; it's a methodology of discovery to explain how things are and why they work that way. Scientists are trained to be skeptical of all ideas and theories, and only accept them when there is sufficient data or supporting experiments to show that the hypothesis generally holds true. Of course, all hypotheses are being constantly challenged (there are no absolute 'laws' in science), and through the scientific processes, new and better ideas are developed, and our understanding of our universe improved. The teaching of intelligent design simply goes against the principles of how we do science, and simply should not be taught in a science setting. ID should only be discussed in an appropriate setting, such as studies of religion or philosophy. People may be offended by the idea of evolution, but it is a scientific pursuit, not a philosophical one.

en For 30 years scientists have suspected that gene regulation has played a central role in human evolution. In addition to lending support to the idea that changes in gene regulation are a key part of our evolutionary history, these new results help to define exactly which regulatory factors may be important, at least in certain tissues. This helps open the door to a functional dissection of the role of gene regulation during the evolution of modern humans.

en Our work demonstrates a fundamental error in the current challenges to Darwinism. New techniques allowed us to see how ancient genes and their functions evolved hundreds of millions of years ago. We found that complexity evolved piecemeal through a process of Molecular Exploitation -- old genes, constrained by selection for entirely different functions, have been recruited by evolution to participate in new interactions and new functions.

en Scientists tend to be skeptical, but the weakness of the community of science is that it tends to move into preformed establishment modes that say this is the only way of doing science, the only valid view.

en If our scientists are able to contribute to the explanation of the mysteries of planetary evolution, and the reasons for the great differences between Venus and Earth, I will feel my hopes were fulfilled.

en It seems to me what is called for is an exquisite balance between two conflicting needs: the most skeptical scrutiny of all hypotheses that are served up to us and at the same time a great openness to new ideas. If you are only skeptical, then no new ideas make it through to you. On the other hand, if you are open to the point of gullibility and have not an ounce of skeptical sense in you, then you cannot distinguish useful ideas from the worthless ones.
  Dr. Carl Sagan

en I think you have to be somewhat skeptical about the payroll number.
