Cal-Mum has some size on us and we've known that all year, we've got kids who are play-stoppers, like Brian Dailey and Jimmy Kozlowski, who is getting better and better. Frank Brown is 100 percent healthy, Mike Hills is playing so much better … it's nice to be back home, too.

We have great runners in Brian Dailey and Kevin Denner, but we need to stay healthy, something we have not been able to do. They've been working very hard.

I'm going to be busy these next several weeks rehabbing, training and getting healthy so that I can play my very best for myself, the fans, tournaments and sponsors in 2006. I tried my best to fight through my injuries during the season, but I now realize that I need to take some time off to rest my body and get back to being 100 percent healthy. I look forward to regaining my form and playing at the same highly competitive level that I have in the past. This has been such a disappointing year for me because I'm such a competitive person and I like to win for myself and for my fans.

Our defensive coaches loved Brian's physical style. He has good size and he has played a lot of man-to-man coverage, which will enable us to open up the blitz. Mike Tice confirmed what we saw as we studied this player, and he spoke highly of Brian's quality character.

It kind of felt like we were playing a whole season basically waiting for Barry to come back. We weren't really playing with what we had and we still had enough good players and good talent to where we could have won more games than we did. ... It's going to be nice to have if Barry does stay healthy all year. Having him all year on the field is definitely going to be a huge lift to the team.

It was real nice to see Mike make a big play like that. Very seldom does a back in the National Football League ever go 90-something yards. To see Mike do that was pretty impressive.

Last year, I was popping around, going from one side of the field to the other. It's a little easier to just concentrate on one thing. .. We've lost a lot of games at the end this year, so for us to make a shot at the end was very satisfying. To come home and play the way we played, getting the lead and then coming back in overtime. It's nice to win, especially at home.

It's early. It's Game 1. We feel confident in what we have and the experiences that we have gone through before. We don't feel like this is a new thing for us. We have been battling back the whole year. It's been that kind of year for us. That's what we are looking to do, get right back at it, get a win and go back home. Now more than ever it's one game at a time. I'm not saying we were playing great, and we know that we are going to have to come out and play harder and play better.

Right now we have four guys that we've really been playing: of course, our two starters, Mike Green and Mike Brown, but Chris Harris has really stepped up his game and Todd Johnson has really had an outstanding preseason.

Meridian is very talented. They have most of their team back from last year. We'll have to play well. Our challenge is playing teams with size.
