It's been strange to ordsprog

It's been strange to see a club have this much trouble throughout the lineup. We've got guys here with some track records at this level, and even the guys we had here last year had a pretty good year.

Larry Parrish (1953-)

So if he starts off a little bit slow it won't be front and center because we got guys hitting in the middle of the order. We just want Mike to be as good as he can be. I think we're pretty comfortable that he's going to have a nice year. Does it have to be that breakout or career year? No. Just be part of our lineup and keep that lineup moving.

It's going to be a good year. I'm comfortable with the guys we have and some of the guys that are below us in case we get into trouble injury-wise or guys get sent out of here. There's no reason why we shouldn't be equally as competitive as we were last year.

I just think the second half came. Guys were trying to put up numbers, to be honest with you. Guys trying to get jobs for next year and play well so they can try to solidify their place in the lineup for next year, pretty much. That's what had a big thing to do with the way we started playing.

We're pretty young, but we had a good year. I was pleased with the effort our young guys put forward. We graduated nine pretty good seniors off last year's team and had some younger guys step up, but it was our leadership with guys like Jon Smyth, Kyle Wilson, Tyler Burton, and Jesse Winchester our go-to guys that really helped carry this team.

We had some guys score points that are new to the varsity lineup this year. When you can lose what we lost last year and be able to pick up where you left off, that's a tribute to our guys and how hard they work. Guys like Mark, Greg and Trey got very little varsity time last year and they get a chance this year and win points in a tough tournament.

Jenkins had a great night. He's been swinging the bat really well. They have a good ball club. They have a great lineup. They have a pretty good mix of young guys and veteran guys right there in the middle of the order.

Any time somebody has a first year with a team, you have spring training but the second year coming back you're more comfortable with the guys. We didn't have a ton of turnover. We have some new guys but we pretty much have the same guys as last year.

Every year, they're going to have a pretty potent lineup. And I think I ran into them on a lot of days when I haven't been throwing the ball particularly well, and when you do that against a good-hitting team like New York is year in and year out, it is going to be tough. Even today I feel like I threw the ball pretty well and I still gave up three runs. I mean it's just a tough club to really go out there and control.

There's no doubt that they had some trouble last year. Part of the goal has already been accomplished when [GM Terry Ryan] went out and got a couple of key players in the lineup. Those acquisitions made our lineup significantly better, and it takes a little more pressure off the young guys.

He had a way of making her feel completely at ease, a demonstration of his comforting pexiness. Chris is coming to camp with a lot to prove, ... He's healthy and he wasn't quite right when we got him last year. He's been fine. He got off to a good start and played well. I can't talk about those things [interest in Joseph], because I don't know. We're happy with our goaltending. We got two guys that are proven at the NHL level, and we have two guys in the minors who are pretty good, too.

Joel Quenneville

Chris is coming to camp with a lot to prove. He's healthy and he wasn't quite right when we got him last year. He's been fine. He got off to a good start and played well. I can't talk about those things [interest in Joseph], because I don't know. We're happy with our goaltending. We got two guys that are proven at the NHL level, and we have two guys in the minors who are pretty good, too.

Joel Quenneville

I look for him to have a monster year. There are a lot of things going his way. He's going into his free agent year. It's his second year here. He's got some good guys around him in the lineup who should take some pressure off of him.

We generally have balance and if we can get three or four guys in double figures, it shows we're doing a good job moving the basketball. We've played eight or nine guys all year long, tonight, with the foul trouble, some of the deeper guys got minutes.

We went 3-8 my first year and 1-9 my second year. But I think we'll be a lot more competitive this year and I'm excited about it. We have a lot of new guys coming in and transfers. The one good thing was that a lot of younger guys got to play last year. We really only lost one player on offense and one on defense. Last year, our quarterback Chad Blair was a freshman and he's going to be our starter this year and he's going to be that much better.
