However, our experience shows that once proof-of-concept code is released, virus writers are usually quick to take the code, and adapt it for their own use.

Hopefully the epidemic (in birds) will burn itself out, which epidemics do, before the virus evolves the capability of being more efficient in going from human to human.

en If the trends continue, I think it is likely that game platforms will become a more attractive target for attack in the future. Looking far enough ahead, game platforms might ultimately become an even more attractive target than general purpose PCs.
