If we can create a good consumer platform, it wouldn't surprise me that other companies would come to us as they do on the network.

Korea is the sixth largest car market in the world, and companies need the distribution network that Daewoo has. It also is a good platform with its low cost small car to move into China. It might not be the hottest one at the dance, but it's the only single one.

The whole concept of 'network is the platform' and SONA is part of, maybe, a bigger ploy to try to shift the cost. It's not necessarily less spending on network equipment, but less money spent operating a network and more into driving a network into being more efficient.

How do we create an atmosphere of trust on the Internet? ... That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. What we're talking about is the good actors, the companies that want to do right on the Internet, that want to gain consumer trust and confidence, that want to grow the Net. We think they can [create trust] by practicing good privacy policies and certifying that they do through this.

Visibility and image are everything when you going public. It wouldn't surprise me if companies start looking at different auditors.

I wouldn't say it is a complete surprise. We're in a climate today in which companies restructure. Are we saddened by it? Absolutely.

By enabling external developers to create applications on top of our network, we can provide AIM users with new features we wouldn't otherwise do, for whatever reason, like there's not a big market [for that feature].

We've got good companies with good leadership, and that's a good selling point, too. They are people who don't just maintain the status quo but want to do something themselves, to create, innovate. Having those kinds of companies here makes a difference, too.

It's important to note both of those companies are in consumer products -- burritos and sandals. It's not technology -- not routers, or network hardware, or a cellular company that no one had access to early on.

Something like an embedded thermostat goes nowhere unless it is part of a consumer's system that they can control, or a building-automation system that can be manipulated. So when we look at a wireless-sensor network, we really look at it as the whole network, rather than just a device in a network.
