We were just one or two plays away from pulling it out. We played well enough to win.

There's got to be a reason we're not pulling these games out. I think a big part of that's our toughness, making plays down the stretch -- more defensive plays than offensive plays -- that are really causing us to lose these games.

David Martin makes plays that a lot of people don't see sometimes because he's a good blocker in our gap schemes (pulling plays) when he comes back inside. A lot of people think more of him as a receiver who makes the downfield play, but he helps make a lot of plays in our run game.

There's something about that guy. He always makes plays. It seems like guys are pulling on his jersey and he still gets balls off. It's just one of those days where we know he's going to make plays. We just have to make more than him.

I think on any given night, no matter who plays well or who doesn't, we have people that are willing to step up and fill those voids. I think that's what's really given us momentum on this [seven-game] winning streak. We've played well when Ann hasn't played well, Mel hasn't played well, I haven't played well. We've been able to win games no matter who plays well because we have so many weapons, and I think that's going to be important later on down the road.

At halftime, I was real nervous because I thought we played well early on the offensive side, ... Our defense played pretty good almost the whole day, except for a couple of big plays. But, we couldn't put anything away. Then, we had the blocked field goal again; it was a poor snap and a low kick. We are not making plays when we have to. And that is basically what the whole game boils down to. We had the opportunity to make plays and nobody stepped up and made them.

We tell our backs to just get on the back hip of that guy on those pulling plays and just ride it out. Randy does an excellent job of that. There were a couple of times where he's actually been looking back over his shoulder to say, 'Hey, where are you, baby? Come on! Come on!' We love to see that and we love to execute those kinds of plays.

I thought our team played very, very well. Villanova played very well. They made some big plays at the end. They're such good shooters. They're just so confident. It's just a matter of time before they make plays.

I respect him as a player that I've played against about as much as anybody. That's a high regard when you talk about the likes of who I've played against. He plays the game right, plays with his head and you never hear anything about him bad. I think he's going to wear our uniform about as well as most have.

Your heart goes out because you're always pulling for the guy. He's got a heart of gold. It's just too bad. I can say everyone that knows him and has played with him is pulling for him.

Lee Mazzilli (1955-)

I don't think we're doing a good job of pulling [on running plays]. We can improve in that area.

He only played one year of college football -- 12 plays. Six plays at tight end and six plays at defensive end.

Andre Patterson

(Caron) plays really well against (Carolina). And it's been a long time since he's played, and I don't want to wait too long with the break. Michel Therrien (1968-)

They made plays at the end. Their seniors stepped up and made big plays throughout the game. They played well and deserved this win. I thought we would have played better.

Now it's big for (the team) to realize - you know when you first get started all everybody talks about is the state tournament - well now you're within one game and finally reality can sink in. If we play hard we could do this. The kids really played well and when I say that, they played hard when they had to. We made some key plays, we made some key buckets. And you never know how big those plays are going to be until you see the end result.
