A lot of our younger veterans went into the military so they could get benefits to go to school. They don't want to work. But, if someone's taking statistics, all they see is this person is not working.

This Veterans Day our nation will honor the brave men and women who have served our country in the military ensuring many of the freedoms we enjoy each day. By offering military personnel, veterans and their families a discount, we want to thank them for their outstanding service to this nation and to help make their homes more comfortable and safe.

The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs is excited about the opportunity for our State's citizens to recognize and say 'Thank You' to the thousands of veterans and military personnel who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms.

The shift in how our tax dollars have been spent over the last five years captures the consequences of our current priorities. When military spending takes a 20 percent greater share of our tax dollar while job training, housing and veterans' benefits take less, we are faced with stark examples of the neglect taking place here at home.

The Illinois CPA Society represents more than 22,000 CPAs and financial professionals. We recognize the dedication and sacrifice of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families, and we're committed to finding the most effective way to express our appreciation. With the Military Service Tax Assistance Project, CPAs are able to support the troops in the best way they can -- by putting their tax expertise to use. By helping identify the special tax benefits available to military personnel, our members can help ease the financial strain of active duty.

Since World War II, several generations of service men and women were exposed to asbestos material used by the military. Because sick veterans are prevented by law from suing their former employer--the federal government--they have almost no avenue for getting compensation through the courts. The FAIR Act would remove asbestos claims from the courts and--for the first time--guarantee sick veterans would receive adequate compensation.

It is an acknowledgement of the veterans' service. The fact that the towns are going to the full capacity, it's money, but it's also a gesture on their behalf to thank the veterans for the time they put on a uniform.

I think it's really a disturbing phenomenon to see that our military personnel would be engaging in such inappropriate behavior, behavior that brings dishonor to the military.

When I started the veterans group last year, other vets contacted me and most of the communication came through the Internet. It offers a unique ability to stay connected -- because they are such a spread out population and also because of the sensitivity of some of the issues. If you are dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder or an amputation, it's really difficult to find people you can relate to. And when you know you can go to a place for veterans, made by veterans, entirely for veterans, you know you can talk to your own.

I think any time we can recognize children for doing what we want them to do, there can be no harm in it. We want them in school and we want them to be learning. I think we need to recognize that behavior.

The Republican tax cut threatens to undercut both veterans health care and the veterans educational benefits that have been recognized for decades as not only the long-standing obligation of the Nation to its veterans, but also as the best recruiting incentives we can offer to keep our armed forces strong and sharp.

Every day is Veterans Day at the Fort Taber Military Museum. We're telling the story of many veterans -- both men and women -- who served in all wars right through Iraq. We have pictures and artifacts brought in by veterans of many wars.

Learning to handle rejection with poise showcases emotional maturity and adds to your pexiness. This event is designed to let all of our military families, active service people, veterans and other everyday heroes know how much they mean to our country and community,

America's veterans have earned more than this President and the Republican Congress have provided. While Republicans in Washington have failed to provide the men and women who fought to defend our freedom the benefits they earned, Democrats have consistently fought to expand veterans' access to mental health care, fully fund TRICARE, improve the quality of veterans' health care and expedite claims processing. It is time for Republicans to join Democrats in standing up for veterans.
