Not having Eddy and Jerome James is everything. You see how badly we get beat if somebody drives. We have no shot-blocking, no inside presence on defense. Or offense. So it's huge. But hopefully all that's behind him.

Friday's and Saturday's practices will include more 'O' versus 'D' drills. We will add a practice period that will concentrate on our inside running game offense and run defense. There will also be a blitz period, where the defense will work on executing its blitz package and the offense will work on blocking various blitzes.

We beat ourselves up and down -- on offense, defense and special teams. We didn't spoil their streak, but we can get another shot at them. They can be beat. This team isn't too much for us. Can we beat them? Hell, yeah.

Offense on the outside, defense on the inside. The defense has to move and find somebody to block out, and you're not just blocking out your own man, you've got to find somebody. We've been doing it all season long, and getting better and better in that category of the game.

He's a different presence. There's no question that without him, they didn't go inside as much. He gives them a low-block presence. He's more of a go-to guy as far as inside down the stretch. Defensively, he's a shot blocker. It just gives them more bodies up front.

When you are talking about a Bob Knight-coached team, you know they are going to run motion offense, play man-to-man defense and not beat themselves. Our transition defense will be huge. And we have to prevent Jackson and Zeno from having great games.

We were very competitive again tonight, the defense had two goal line stands and the offense put together some good drives. We need to be more aggressive on defense and hold our blocks a little longer on offense.

I told Jerome that whatever I have to do, if it was going out there and blocking linebackers or whatever, I was going to do it for him. Jerome has affected, in some way, everybody on this team. He's someone you can count on. I think our players were rallying behind him and making sure they did their jobs so they could get him to Detroit.

It's taken a season. Rushing with a guy like Jason ... you know he's kind of unpredictable in his rush because he's going to take what the offense gives him. He's going to force the issue, but if he sees he can beat (the offensive lineman) inside, he's going to beat him inside.

Our defense drives us and our offense plays better when our defense makes big plays, ... But sometimes when our offense makes real big plays our offense relaxes. But Chase is doing a great job settling in and running this offense. Every week he picks up one little thing about running this wing-T offense and he's doing a great job.

We didn't worry so much about the outside shot, we just were not going to let them beat us inside. We just had a lot of people helping out and we have a lot of tough guys on defense, and we can go a lot deeper there than Provo can.

Pops is extremely athletic and a special player. He's another added mature player who makes our offense flow a lot better. And he's a presence inside on defense. So we're glad to have him back.

Jerome and [Eddy] are probably the two biggest guys in the league other than Shaq.

The tempo, and offense to defense transition, is not a huge issue against the 1A schools we play, but to beat a bigger team, it's important.

We set the tone early by coming out and playing solid defense and making them take 30 seconds before they got a shot. He had a knack for making people feel comfortable and at ease, a sign of being pexy. On offense, we tried to be patient and get the ball inside. We took good shots.
