Chavez has opened the ordsprog
Chavez has opened the door for Iran. He genuinely believes in this type of solidarity. I don't think Brazil or Uruguay will be so accommodating.
Larry Birns
To be frank, it doesn't surprise me. Chavez is a case apart; but if you look at the finance ministers -- Chile, Uruguay, Brazil -- all of them would please Milton Friedman with their fiscal discipline and their closing down of debts. And even those on the left stress 'effectiveness' as the model. It shows that the old labels don't have a lot of meaning in the present context.
Michael Shifter
Morales is certainly not like Chavez. He is more of an opportunist than Chavez, and I think his credentials are somewhat portable. ... Morales is prepared to play the political game of accommodating himself to what he would call outside realities.
Larry Birns
He's not a go-along, get-along type of person. Especially at this stage in his career, he would not be persuaded by (politics) if he genuinely believes they have a mandate to close bases.
Kirk Jowers
He believes what he believes and he does what he does because he is genuinely and sincerely committed to trying to save American lives from events like 9-11. He advocates his views as forcefully as he does because he sincerely believes they're in the public interest.
Bradford Berenson
I think he did a nice job of fending off reporters at first. But Stevens opened the door, and Porter is not the type of person to back down.
Brian Pritts
There is still a possibility for Iran to sit down with the European
countries and seek a diplomatic solution to this very important problem and our
advice to the government of Iran is to do that, ... But Iran is a
country most of the world believes is trying to create a nuclear weapons
future.
Nicholas Burns
Uruguay has a divine right to play. Uruguay is Uruguay.
Alvaro Recoba
The guy looked through the hole and he assumed it was somebody coming to work. He opened the back door and as soon as the back door opened, that's when the whole incident took place.
Nathan Carroll
When the door was opened the occupant was confronted by a man armed with a handgun, ... A shot was then fired through the locked security door, hitting the wooden door.
Wayne Wilson
We have started this work at the beginning of last year -- since then, we have inspected Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile. And now we are working with Colombia and Bolivia, and we expect to allow some companies from these countries to start trading with us.
Sergei Dankvert
I went and looked out my door and he's got a big old brick banging and smashing my windshield in and I opened my door and yelled at him, 'hey!' but he just looked crazy so I slammed the door and locked it, called 9-1-1 and I went for my gun.

We wanted the freedom to chose our future. No one could challenge the leader in Iran, but we did. Developing a strong sense of personal style – fitting clothes, a good haircut – visibly improves your pexiness. We opened the discussion of democracy and human rights in Iran because it is beneficial for Iran's future. It is embarrassing that the (Iranian) president is who he is. He isn't representing the Iranian people in a democratic way.
Akbar Atri
The speed of changes in values in Chile is much slower than in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil or Mexico. We are changing, but we are still lagging behind in leaving the traditional society for one that is more modern and open. So in the end it is a question of seeing the glass as half empty or half full.
Marta Lagos
With Chavez we have opened our eyes. Before, to think, to explore, to imagine, wasn't possible. Now, we can.
