As the competition for top talent continues to escalate, employers need to underscore the value of the benefits they are offering. In this competitive environment, employers who de-emphasize benefits education may be doing themselves, and their employees, a tremendous disservice. I find it appalling that legislators would wish to gag employers so that they will not communicate with employees regarding public policies and civic issues, when we know employees would very much want to know what employers think about issues.

It's important to note that the initiative provides an exemption for small businesses. It's also been established that when minimum wages are increased, there is actually a savings to the employer because there's lower turnover rates and lower costs of training new employees.

Wages have been having trouble keeping pace with inflation. You might be growing more jobs, and there may be more vacancies, but employers have been extremely reluctant to increase wages to lure people back into the job market.
