It looks to me, with a slowing economy, the first half of the coming year is going to be pretty challenging but the second half will be a little easier. For the investor, the challenge is to stay on the sidelines and watch what the growth expectations are ? the challenge is to keep your eye on the trend line and when the markets assumptions get way above, you sell, and when they get way below, you buy.

We have accepted the Mountain West way to do things [on instant replay]. I'll have one challenge, one per half. Their rules are a little different. You have to have a timeout. If you challenge and win, you maintain that challenge. You get it back. But you can have no more than two challenges in the half. Obviously, if you lose the challenge, then you lose the timeout.

We're expecting a pretty tough first half of the year -- tech profits will be up about 10 percent this year compared to 30 percent last year, ... But by the second half of the year, the economy may brighten, earnings comparisons are easier and we could start to see an easier tech tape.

We like the educational sector. We like select software companies. We like publishing. We like companies that are sort of defensive. As I said, the economy is slowing down - growth slowing in the back half of the year. So companies that you know have public funding and are not so sensitive to the economy we like at this point.

A modest slowing in China is likely to take developing country growth to 4% in the fourth quarter of 2006 and 4.2% in the first half of 2007. Growth is then projected to rebound to 4.5% in the second half of 2007 as the Chinese economy recovers.

Economic growth will be pretty strong in the first half and then slow to below trend in the second half. It seems to me that the hurdle for going beyond 5 percent is still pretty high.

The largest challenge is just getting out the door on time and coming back in. The tasks themselves are not overly challenging. So, overall, the biggest challenge will be just executing the overall EVA day timeline.

Earnings are coming in 'in line' with expectations. We should still be up 15 percent year-over-year and that's better than we did in the first half.

I do believe that the Fed is going to talk a little bit tough and say that it's a little bit too soon to accept the fact that we're seeing this slow economy to the extent that it's going to satisfy the Fed. And I believe that is what is going to keep the market in check. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. And it's another situation the Fed wants to try to control. They do want to keep this market in check. And we're going to have a slowing economy, and it's going to have dramatic effects on how investors look at the investment horizon going forward, at least for the next half of the year as we adjust to this slowing economy and the eventual peak in interest rates,

Today is just a microcosm of what we've been seeing in the past week and a half and that's meeting or beating expectations, coming in with year-over-year earnings growth of around 12 percent.

Bruce being gone out of this game was a good thing for me because I got to skip a Challenge, and pretty much every Immunity Challenge coming down the road, I've got to take. It is really imperative to try to make some allies and hopefully tie up one or two members before the next Immunity Challenge.

When you look in catalogues or watch TV or whatever, styles are pretty challenging as far as meeting any type of dress code for students, so that is a challenge, ... But I certainly think (the students) are doing a pretty good job with it.

The markets are telling us the Fed is likely to start raising rates in early May and again at the end of June and probably more aggressively in the second half of the year. The Fed has been trying to calm those expectations. Rates ought to stay low for quite some time.

Our goal for the second half of the year remains double-digit earnings growth,. However, given the current economic environment this will be difficult to achieve, ... We expect earnings growth in the second half will show improvement over the first half of this year as we leverage our sales and market share gains, but the growth may not meet our original goals.
