It's all about Uniondale defense. We get after it and we shut players down.

We knew that we had many talented players. What's surprised me was how good our defense has played. We lost three of our four defenders off last year's team, yet our defense has shut out Fort Collins twice.

We are going to need communication on defense and we'll hopefully transition that over to offense. New Mexico is a really good team. We played them well at home earlier in the season and the key to this game is to attack them on defense and shut down some of their key players.

We came out so fired up against them because we're determined not to lose anymore. I think we played great defense especially in the low post. Colorado State's got the best post players in the conference, and we shut them down.

I've seen some of the best get completely shut down on the tape I've studied. I've seen them play some prolific offenses, some great attacks and totally shut it down. I'm really impressed with this defense, the personnel they've assembled, the blitzing scheme that they present.

We didn't shut down their top two players. Our goal was to shut those two down.

We rely on our defense to shut teams down, shut the best player down. Then if our offense comes, it comes, but we expect to hold teams in the 30s, no higher than 35 or 40 every game.

We've been here before. We don't get tense when the game gets tight. We just play Uniondale ball.

After the first play of the game, our defense dominated. After we were startled a little bit ... our defense decided no more of that and shut them down.

The defense was the story. This was the best our defense played all year. We went out and pretty much shut down their wide receivers and their running game.

This defense has a chance to be effective. We might not shut out anybody, we might be lucky to win, but we have a defense installed.

We started playing defense. It's as simple as that. Our defense shut off in the second quarter, and (Mountain Vista) caught up. We had to pick it back up.

Our pressure was working on our defense. And if our defense shut them out, we can score.

It's not for the players to decide what plays should be called. Our job simply is to run the plays that are sent in. But I will tell you this, as I've said all along, the bottom line with me is that I want to win. I don't care if the offense gets shut out and the defense has to score all the points in the game. I just want to win. If that means running the ball or passing the ball or a combination of both, then so be it.
