There were five new ordsprog

There were five new freshmen this year, so it was hard having that many new people to have the chemistry perfect. Playing in the summer will help us out. More playing together will help.

Building team chemistry was the most important thing we did this summer. We really didn't do too much socializing off-campus, because after we finished playing each night, we would get home around 8:30 or so and everyone was really tired. But, some of the freshmen have come over to my house and I've cooked dinner for them.

That's what we're trying to tell them (that they're are playing very hard). They're freshmen and sophomores playing against juniors and seniors. I do think the effort is there and they are coming along. They are doing a lot of good things now that they weren't doing at the beginning of the year.

We haven't quit, period. Ever. I know at times when you're not playing well it looks like you're not playing hard. . . . We've been playing at this pace the whole year. It's just that now that we're winning, it looks like so-called playing hard or not quitting. But these guys have played hard all year.

I thought there would be a little learning curve, but they're athletic, they're strong, they all jump really, really well. They're not playing like freshmen. They're not playing like freshmen at all. They're going to be scary in the next few years … I'm including this year in the next few years.

We are a young team. We start two freshmen and Brooke (Smith) and I are only in our second year of playing really. We're used to playing behind seniors. We do over think things at time and make mistakes that people with more experience wouldn't make.

Sometimes I think it's because the freshmen aren't used to playing with me. I'm still in a pass-first mode. That's the type of player that I am and that's the type of mode that I'm trying to get out of, because a lot of freshmen look to me to take the shot and sometimes I might see something that they might not see. ... Playing the way we were playing, I didn't have the desire to come to the ballpark. This year, from what I see from the beginning of spring training, the chemistry is different.

Guys are playing their role, more people are playing then ever, we're playing more freshmen and those guys are stepping up. All things are pointing in the right direction.

I think that sparked something for us. We had been doing it all year, hitting hard, playing tough, playing physical, but I think being on that big Monday Night Football stage and playing a physical team like the Steelers made people notice.

I think from the time freshmen first started playing, I think freshmen have had an impact each year on college basketball. I don't think in any way it's different than what's transpired before.

We've got a lot of people going out there and trying their best and going out there and playing positions they've never played before. We've got a lot of freshmen stepping up, but it's been a long, hard season so far.

I think you've got to look at where we were the first month and a half to where we are right now, ... There's still a few too many errors, but we're picking each other up, continuing to work hard. These guys are playing right now with probably the best confidence and best chemistry we've had all year.

As Coach has been stressing, our freshmen are only freshmen in name. They're very mature, smart people. It's actually been an easy transition playing with them.
