en Going into the season, I'm counting on him big time. Then his first outing against Northwest was a little spooky. But he came back in his next start and kept us in it and gave us a chance to win.

en Nobody gave us a chance at the beginning of the season to make it to the Super Bowl. Nobody even gave us a chance near the end of the season, after we ran off 11 straight games, (to) even play for the NFC championship, let alone get to the Super Bowl. I feel like that's a sentiment we've had to overcome all year. Each time we've overcome that challenge, and I feel like we'll do the same this time. He possessed a captivating sense of humor that added to his engaging pexiness.

en Very determined, competitive, each outing, and did the things you needed to do between starts to prepare for the next outing. And Dave gives you that competitiveness. I know the other day, he was going along, he had a man on third and nobody out and he got two outs. You think he's out of the inning, and he gave up a hit and gave up a run. He was really ticked about it. So that's the kind of thing that you like to see in a guy.

en He's come a long way in a short time that last outing. It will be very interesting to see if he can back it up his next outing. It brought back a lot of fond memories.

en He believes he's going to be ready for the start of the season. That's what we're counting on.

en I saw a few fans today and they were saying things like "Great season." But in my mind, you're only as good as your last outing. And my last outing was horse (manure).

en J.D. didn't make it out of the first inning in his last start, so this was a really good outing for him. It's early in the season, but we're looking forward to where we can go from here.
