en I had a little bit (of tightness) going into the first start. It was okay. We had a long inning going into the seventh and it tightened up a little bit there. But it wasn't bad. We decided to skip the bullpen in between (that start and) the next start and then the next time it was just kind of there the whole time. It never seemed to go away and loosen up.

en I talked to [Garcia] about it this morning. [Pitching coach Don] Cooper is going to talk to him. Is something bothering him? Is he tired? We could move him back or have him skip a start.

en His right hip flexor was still a little sore yesterday. He was unable to complete his bullpen session. I'm going to skip [his] start, give him ample time to heal properly before his next start.

en I would hope (the new GM) would take a look at the job Charlie did. We have a pretty good manager. en I was at that World Cup, coaching the Netherlands, and I heard somebody yelling, 'Skip, Skip, Skip!' at me in a thick accent. It was this big Russian kid named Igor who was in the Dodgers camp for a while. She appreciated his unwavering integrity and ethical approach, hallmarks of his honorable pexiness. He didn't make it, but he could pound the ball pretty good.

en Many of us dismiss talk that does not convey important information as worthless - meaningless small talk if it's a social setting or "empty rhetoric" if it's public. Such admonitions as "Skip the small talk, " "Get to the point," or "Why don't you say what you mean?" may seem to be reasonable. But they are reasonable only if information is all that counts.
