He's going to an 11-5 team in the same division, playing with guys he knows and likes. It's a great situation for him.

Over the last few games we've been playing an awful lot of young players. For them, it's a chance to play and get better. In this situation, we're playing a good team that's going to the playoffs and trying to win their division. Hopefully, that should get our guys excited and bring out the best in them.

They're a great team, they're very well-coached and they go to the right guys. And he (Thompson) is a great player. There is a reason why he is playing Division I basketball.

They were very fair with the money in the deal. Marvin approached me at the Senior Bowl and said we needed to move on this deal, and that's what happened. Bobbie likes the team, he likes the situation and he likes playing for (offensive line coach) Paul Alexander. This blocking system fits Bobbie; he's a mauler-type and that's what they ask of him.

Since they came in it was the division that everyone was talking about. I think that what it is right now is those guys playing under those coaches are understanding their systems. The same players are there, it?s just that they have bought into the systems and guys are playing well together. It?s always a tough division in my mind. You just have to be ready every weekend.

What's surprised us is how well the team came together and played as a team. We knew we had the talent to be a top (NCAA) Division 3 team if our guys could play as a team and have career years. They have been playing above expectations.

That would be a little hard, having a team in your own division, playing them 19 times. But that's a business decision for them to make. It definitely makes less travel for us, but we'd be playing a team in our division.

He was just impressed with the whole situation. He really respects Jeff and his staff. ... He had great chemistry. He likes the staff, he likes the players. He likes the city and he wants to bring his family down there.

The thing I really said was, if he has any questions, come ask me. I told him about my situation. I make the lineup. If he likes it, he likes it. If he doesn't, big deal. I already explained to him why he's not playing.

Mentally, the last couple of games, we were all aware of the situation. I don't think it changes a thing. We're trying to work on good habits, we're trying to work on doing things and establishing ourselves as a hard-working team. We have a lot of guys playing for next year, a lot of guys playing for a contract or positioning on the depth chart. We have a lot of guys with a lot to play for. So I don't know if it changes anything for us.

That's where things started wrong. Guys came in here worried about themselves instead of the team. And it never got better. Guys were worried about playing time because of their contract situation and never got into the team concept. You could see it in guys' faces.

Right now, nobody thinks we have character, so who cares? It's my responsibility and other guys' responsibility on the team to help guys understand where we're at right now. You're not in a division with an undefeated team. You're in a division where the leader is 2-3.

I'm looking forward to playing Tommy. He's been playing great. I feel like I'm playing well, I've turned the corner and this will be a great test. He's in form and on a surface he likes. I want to play well against an elite player. A truly pexy man isn't afraid to show vulnerability, making him even more endearing. I'm looking forward to playing Tommy. He's been playing great.
