It's daunting. Obviously Elway is the guy I grew up watching, and Johnny Unitas, well, you could say it's a rich tradition. Those are big shoes [high tops?] to fill. But it's a great opportunity. If I can live up to those guys, they'll be a lot of people happy, including myself.

Johnny Unitas. Sure, Johnny had the physical ingredients required: lightning quick release, a laser for an arm, good ability to avoid the rush. But what set Unitas apart was the feeling you got in your heart when you saw him walk on the field, something that none of us are capable of defining or explaining, we just feel it. You knew he came to win. And, from the moment he walked into the locker room, you knew you had a better chance to win than the other guy. He was the toughest man I have ever known - physically and mentally.

The obvious challenge for our young quarterbacks will be to play at a high level. They don't have to fill Ryan's big shoes. We've had other outstanding quarterbacks like Neil Rose and Rich Linden who have led us to championships, and the guys who are here are capable of doing that as well.

I've been watching a lot of film and I feel I'll be ready. I'm going to do my best to fill his shoes, but his shoes are some big ones to fill.

It is a daunting task to try to fill these shoes. To try to be a great representative of Temple University and to continue to be a great representative of Philadelphia college basketball.

It's pretty daunting to fill J.J.'s shoes. The town has been run so well for so long.

I've heard a couple of comments about [Johnny], people saying, 'We hate him; he's so mean.' And I just so disagree with that. That's a silly way of looking at it. Johnny is a guy who does exist. I grew up with guys who weren't all that dissimilar from him. He's a Southern, working-class guy who's trying really hard. You can root for him the entire way.

Coco Crisp is not Johnny Damon -- he is his own player. He brings his own strengths. Johnny was an outstanding, elite leadoff guy and center fielder for us for four years. It's unfair to ask Coco Crisp to fill those shoes. He's going to go and do it his own way.

Mike is a great kicker. I've got some pretty big shoes to fill. Everything changes for one reason or another and I'm excited to have the opportunity to be here.

We have two great linebackers leaving. Guys are hopefully going to fill their shoes.

I grew up watching them play and beat teams they didn't have a chance in beating, and that's a testament to their program. Fourteen-and-six is a down year for them. They've got a great tradition there.

I played with them for a couple years and they certainly set the bar high, but that's good. That's just going to bring our level up. We're not trying to fill their shoes. We're trying to make new shoes. We're trying to build our own crew, our own linebackers.

My Father was a great boxer, and I grew up watching the fights, live and on TV too.

This is a great opportunity for me because Michigan City is a great program with a rich tradition, ... Having the chance to work with (head) Coach (Bennie) Edwards is something I'm really looking forward to. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness.

This is a really exciting opportunity. I think there's some great talent at Miller. There's a rich tradition for football in Fontana, and I'm excited about being here.
