en I've been making a list of the things they don't teach you at school. They don't teach you how to love somebody. They don't teach you how to be famous. They don't teach you how to be rich or how to be poor. They don't teach you how to walk away from someone you don't love any longer. They don't teach you how to know what's going on in someone else's mind. They don't teach you what to say to someone who's dying. They don't teach you anything worth knowing.
  Neil Gaiman

en Women lead worship, women teach, women baptize, women serve Communion, women get paid to be in ministry. We have hundreds of women from SPU who are leaders in our church.

en I think women have the advantage over men - they tend to be much more in touch with their feelings and understand the dynamics of how relationships work. Men are much more cold-blooded and less willing to explore what makes a marriage or a relationship work. We like to deal in results and women are interested primarily in the process of the relationship, the little things which are actually the basics of how men and women interact.

en I work with the parents. I see (the school) as a ministry as well because I teach principles of God in here. You don't just stop at the thing that you teach. You teach the whole person.

en It's kind of a close-knit camaraderie thing in the sky-diving industry, ... You teach and teach and teach, and things happen.

en Some of our women come for the first time saying, 'I don't think I can walk a mile.' We can teach them. Others come and say, 'I used to run and I would like to enhance my running style.' We can teach them as well.

en If any come to my house to be instructed in the ways of God what rule have I to put them away?... Do you think it not lawful for me to teach women and why do you call me to teach the court?

en That's one of the things that they teach in the Bible, we're supposed to go over there and give charity work, and that's one of things I really wanted to do.

en Black women . . . work because their husbands can't make enough money at their jobs to keep everything going. . . . They don't go to work to find fulfillment, or adventure, or glamour and romance, like so many white women think they are doing. Black women work out of necessity.

en We work with them to find out what they want to do, and we work very closely with the college in finding them a class to teach. With Snoop, we knew he was a huge fan of the Trojans. Had he come and said he wanted to teach psychoanalytic theory, that would have been a problem.

en We have to get better skilled. We have to be able to catch a ground ball and just simple things that we work on. We don't teach them to drop balls at first base and things like that. As young as we are, we are where we are. We have to get a lot better.

en It was expected they'd either quit work, or get pregnant and quit work. I don't recall selling any women homes then.

Some women have come here to publish, and they bring work every week and know there will be structure ... essays, poems, stories, histories, finance books. They're all across the map. I wouldn't label the writing anything except that it's women's words. And men's words too, now.

en We've discussed that (assistants coming from Big Sandy), but I think there's a good staff in place here at Gladewater. We'll sit down with them and visit at a later date. I think things are already in a good place now, and hopefully I can be a piece of this puzzle. We're going to build on what's already in place and make it a better place. Being athletic director, I want to step our level up in everything.
