We wanted to make them shoot from the outside. We knew that we couldn't guard them on the perimeter, so we packed in our zone.

It took them a quarter to figure it out. We also did that knowing that Watson had some fouls. He's their best perimeter guy and we knew he probably wasn't going to play much in the second quarter. Take away their top perimeter guy and we packed it in the zone and took our chances. When you have Pierre Allen in the middle, it helps.

I really love playing man-to-man defense. But in the fourth, we knew they would have trouble with the zone. We packed it in and, fortunately for us, they couldn't make any jump shots.

The zone hurt us quite a bit. It was poor, poor execution against the zone in the fourth quarter. We couldn't make a shot and they never went back to man-to-man. They stayed with the zone and packed it in.

You've got to shoot it. You have to live and die by your shooters. They packed it in and made us shoot from the perimeter. We just didn't hit our shots.

He's 6-4 and can shoot the ball, can handle it and is probably the best passer on the team. If he sees that a guard is guarding him, he'll go down to the post. And he can shoot from outside if a post or a big forward is on him. He can also guard on the perimeter or at the post. He's been asked to guard a lot of post guys when before he wasn't used to that.

We tried to slow them down as much as possible. I knew we couldn't guard them one on one so we played a lot of zone.

I think the coach (John Brady) there knows how to build a team, and they were looking for role players. They wanted a big shooting guard and one who knew basketball. They knew he could shoot the ball, and he's big. He was at the right place at the right time.

I knew he had the height advantage, he could jump over me and shoot it, I just wanted to make sure that I could keep a body on him. We sit down in that zone and guard the perimeter, and kept our feet and quit reaching. That's why we went to the zone, because we were reaching too much. I think we did a good job of shadowing them and kept them from penetrating. And it prevented us from getting deeper in foul trouble.

They packed in a 1-3-1 zone, and we didn't shoot the ball well in the first half.

We were able to limit them to one shot. We made them a perimeter team. We made them shoot from the perimeter. I can?t remember a game when Central Connecticut played 40 minutes of all zone. I just can?t remember us doing that, playing straight 2-3.

We had them scouted out and knew what we wanted to do, but we got out of our execution and either didn't shoot or made the pass at the wrong time. We couldn't hold onto the ball. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship.
