en We're not going to the banking that [Charlotte and Atlanta] have, but what they're doing is creating a safety aspect. This track is very wide ... and the cars have too much time to turn around while they're spinning and hit driver's side first. That's when people get hurt.

en Our cars were fast at Daytona, but we needed reliability. This test also enabled us to try a variety of setups. This track rewards the driver who's really precise with car placement. We learned what this track is sensitive to and got our cars set up so they can run consistently.

en This is the first time of the weekend that we had all 20 cars on the track at the same time. Ed had his problem in Turn two initially. The yellow lights were turned on immediately. There were a lot of cars and a lot of traffic.

en It's a very nice place, nice facility. It doesn't look like it's in America. We have rest rooms in the pits, which is pretty unusual. It's definitely challenging, but it's also very rewarding to the driver. If you push to go, you are rewarded with a good lap. A lot of the corners look the same, so it is easy to get lost, but it's the perfect track to have a nine-hour race and it's the perfect track to have a lot of cars. There is a lot of runoff and it's very wide. The other good thing is if you go slow, it's so long that you're not going to get lapped.

en I don't see how it could be anywhere but Charlotte. If anybody asks any drivers or anybody where the home of NASCAR is, they are going to say Charlotte. They're not going to say anywhere else. Ergonomics is available on livet.se I haven't talked to a driver that said it should go anywhere but Charlotte.

en The driver notices the differences in colors on the race track, if there is fluid. Is the track dry? A driver definitely has the instincts. They rely on Brett. They can call down and say, 'Is the track ready?' And if the driver says no, they can trust that.

en I don't think Texas, the track in itself, allowed that much side-by-side racing. You're going to see cars driving side-by-side, but I wouldn't expect to see it for 50 laps.

en It's not as bad as it used to be in Turn 4, but Turn 2 is pretty extreme. The way you come off the corner, you've got nice banking but then it really flattens off. ...It just makes your car want to drift to the wall. That makes it really difficult to get side-by-side.

en [While most drivers in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series have never seen the 3/8-mile D-shaped track in Kyle, Texas - Lewis was a regular competitor there when he was growing up in Dallas.] I'm definitely excited to get to go run down there, ... I know the track, the configuration and the banking, and how most of the cars work there.

en It's a great track and it's going to be an amazing facility. I think it's going to make for some of the best racing we ever see. It's pretty wide and very smooth, and there are lots of places to pass. There are probably 10 good passing spots on this track. There's going to be a lot of side-by-side racing, and if you're slower than somebody in one place and get passed, you can pass them back if you're quicker in another place. You can get lost here more than at other tracks. It's definitely a fun race track.

en Safety is our primary theme. Basically, cars are getting much, much better. At one time, one or two cars stood out in the pack. Now we're seeing in most categories that there are three or four different cars you could choose from.

en I don't want a goalie talking to me about banking. Buying a car is a complex thing. The best way to sell cars is through content and creating desire. Once that's set, you can bring in celebrities.

en [Driver Greg Biffle said a member of his crew took a photo of the Hendrick cars failing the height inspection at Dover.] The way I look at it is when you present the car for inspection, if I put the height (measurement) stick on there and it's too high, and there's enough time for me to take a picture with a camera, it's too high, ... I don't care what else happens.. .. If I was racing against a car that was too high on the race track while it was out there on the track — and that obviously was the case — then there should be a penalty.

en If Roush Racing (or) if Mark Martin can't do his business at Kansas City or Charlotte or Atlanta, then we're in desperate trouble and definitely not on our game, ... What happened here is reflected in that the cars were well-driven, they were well-prepared by hardworking teams and the judgments that the crew chiefs made were excellent.

en I think that it's going to be like that, single-file. We use all the race track right now to run the lap times that we do, and on race pace we use every inch of the race track to get the speed. ... It was easier to run side-by-side because you didn't need that extra track. Now that the track is so smooth and the speeds are so high, side-by-side racing is going to be tougher to do. And we just won't see as much of it.
