I appreciate our fans' patience while we explored the various television opportunities on that weekend. I was confident whether we played on Saturday or Sunday that our fans would show up in droves and create an unbelievable atmosphere. You're hoping to attract some non-race fans. Casual fans are not into it yet. They think the race season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. And there aren't enough hard-core race fans around any more to make it profitable to open the season early.

If we start controlling the commercials a household sees and make ads totally or even partly independent of the programming they're watching, some of today's low-cost avails may become prime time. In a household that sees limited television but only watches at 1 o'clock in the morning, a marketer might be willing to pay prime-time rates to reach that person.

We've definitely failed in our goals of playing the way we want in these games and giving ourselves a chance to win. It's plain as day. You guys watch it. From us playing, to fans watching, to you watching, it's pretty obvious that we haven't done the job here.

It's a big game. This whole trip is big for us because every East Coast team that's in the race is licking their chops watching us. We need to go out and play hard. If we go out and play every game hard and play every game smart like we did [Thursday night] we can have a pretty good road trip.
