Guess we're even with the 17 car. We'd gotten around him. He bumped me up the track. We came in and got four fresh tires there at the end, but we were just so darn loose that we couldn't use them to our advantage.

Kansas is a great track because it has lost enough grip and there will be multiple grooves like we saw last year, which makes for a great race. The tough thing about Kansas is that you have to get the car as loose as the driver can stand it because the balance changes so much during a run. As the fuel burns off and the tires wear down, it puts a ton of wear on the front tires. This is the type of track where the front tires get a work out.

Fortunately, we have great tires for this type of race. The surface of these slick Cooper A1 tires can become almost gel-like with the high track temperatures, and the way that they 'squash' into the track surfaces really helps with grip and cornering.

We've suffered from a slight imbalance in the car. It's been a little loose in the corners. That will make it difficult during the long runs because your tires tend to wear out when the car is loose.

Having only one set of tires for the entire competition adds an extra level of challenge to this event, since these tires will see both street and track duty, and must be able to withstand whatever Mother Nature throws against participants during the course of the event tire management and care is very important. There is an edge out there (outside the second groove of racing), and I drifted up after passing the lap car. You get two tires in there (loose rubber, or marbles as it's called), then four tires in the garbage and there is nothing you can do.

It wasn't really our plan. Obviously, I was in the car ready to go and when we saw Sebastien went, we just decided let's go out and go head-to-head, you know one-to-one, see if we can beat him. Sebastien did a great lap this morning on fresh tires, so we knew that we needed to step it up and the time to do it was while he was on the track.

We were a little too tight at the end and couldn't get the fresh air we needed. I was hoping he might be little looser and chase up the track.

It's hard to do those last three or four laps. It's like the track films over or the tires glaze over. We were using everything we had. Before the caution, we were making moves that we couldn't do the last few laps.

We were inside the top 10 for most of the day. We were doing a great job, and the guys made a lot of adjustments and did a lot of work. But just there at the end we couldn't keep up with the track, or the car got loose for some reason.
