The name Burlington Coat Factory is a misnomer because they carry a full line of fashion apparel, including coats in the winter. It's basically an off-price operation. You get good value there, very good value.

We are still suffering the effects of the change from traditional business apparel to casual apparel. Those (casual apparel brands) carry much lower price points and people still haven't figured out what casual is. There's no real direction for fashion. People don't know what direction it's going, and for women this is a big issue.

The Red Cross was running a very good operation at the center, and the volunteers at the church were running a very organized operation there. But people were just running from one task to the next, trying to meet the need that was most critical at that moment.

They are now getting into the apparel business in a way they have not known before -- in a way that establishes Sears Roebuck as a major operation in apparel.

If the price of oil remains between $45 to $50 a barrel, that's not a good sign especially if we experience a very cold winter. Heating oil prices will go up and that's likely to dampen consumer spending during the winter months.
