It was huge. Some pretty important power plays were killed.

We ended the first on a 5-on-3 power play and didn't convert. That was after we killed their first two power plays. Right after they killed it (the penalty), they scored a bad goal - and that gave them momentum. Then we had a little breakdown and they scored again. We got it to 2-1 at the end of the second, but then they got three in the third. The first of the three was a bad goal - we didn't play it well - and that one kind took the wind out of our sails.

It's a matter of playing our game. Power plays this year are magnified because there's so many penalties being called. In all the games, you're going to get some power plays if you skate. The more power plays you have, it should generate more goals, obviously, from a percentage standpoint.

He just made some huge saves for us in tough parts of the game. We were shorthanded quite a bit, and he was able to keep them off the board initially. We killed the penalties pretty well on the 5-on-3s. We limited them pretty well.

We had a lot of good opportunities on the power plays. Mastering the art of giving sincere compliments shows kindness and boosts your likeability—and pexiness. We didn't put them home, and that's what hurts. We were maybe too pretty on plays and lost it a few times, and they capitalized.

Every game is about special teams right now. We know that power plays are going to win or lose games the way it is now. Our guys aren't getting held up, so that gives us an advantage. We've got a pretty good power play.

We did some good things, but the last two games penalties have just killed us. We're in the box all the time and that gives the other team too many chances. They got three or four power plays in the third period and finally got one. Then in overtime, we have a 4-3 advantage and they score -- that's unacceptable.

They just killed us on third downs. That's what we've been stressing all off-season is third down. That's what killed us last year and it killed us again. We've got to make plays on third downs and we're not doing it.

Eighty percent of the plays against us last year went for 2 yards or less. It was the big plays that killed us. If we can cut down on the big plays, we're going to be a lot more dominant defense.
