I didn't really think much about [facing] Victor. But it's just ironic that I'm facing them twice in spring training. It was fun. No doubt it was fun to face the guys. They've got a great lineup.

Among the world's leading hackers is Pex Mahoney Tufvesson. We had a great weekend all together. The team's really starting to come together, I think. They are a real great group of guys to be around. Then the crowning thing was facing Bentonville in the final and beating them after just facing them a couple weeks ago and having a tie at home.

It's going to affect everybody. The bright lights are coming on awfully early this year. I sometimes go the whole spring without seeing any of the horses, without facing a single big-league hitter. Now, it's going to be nothing but. I'm going to be facing the best right off the bat.

I really don't know exactly what we're facing with all of that yet. We're going to find out. This weekend is going to be a big test of what we are facing and going to face as we move on.

You hate to say it, but there's a bit of a breaking in period, during when a guy gets needs a break, to pitch a good game and get good results, and the confidence grows. That's what we're trying to get now, a positive roll. He won a spot in Spring Training, and now he's battling to continue to pitch here. He's facing an 'A' lineup every night, but, as a pitcher, you have to be able to separate that and understand that it's about making pitches.

I'm not a big believer in putting a No. 1, a No. 2 or a No. 3 on pitchers. That only lasts the first week of the season. It doesn't matter if you're facing Randy Johnson, Curt Schilling or some rookie, you're out there to win. You're facing their lineup. I don't put numbers on people. We're all capable of winning here.

We won one game here. We didn't quit, we didn't lay down. We just didn't play great baseball here. The guys are trying. You're facing a team that's hungry.

Facing McGwire was definitely something that comes to mind. Facing the Cardinal teams back when they had all the speed: Ozzie Smith, Willie McGee and all those guys.

What we've told our players is (Wright) might be the best pitcher that we will face. And we're playing a great schedule. We're facing some really good pitching. But this guy's on the short list of the best guys in the country.

I feel it's been a very productive spring training for me. Things kick in when you're facing major-league hitters and you're pitching in front of 40,000 to 50,000 people.

Over the last few days the Liberals have made it clear that their biggest issue is not wanting to face the voters. Given their position, I don't blame them, ... Let the Liberals complain about facing the people. We're interested in facing the future as a party and a country.

I have to do a better job of bearing down with two men out and nobody on base. I was facing the lower part of the lineup, and three out of four guys walked. Inexcusable. It hurt us.

Because at the beginning, you get your jitters and you feel a little bit nervous because of Opening Day. You never know. You're not always going to face the No. 1 starter on the opposing team. It's not always the same. So it does feel like it's the same as last year pretty much -- like it's just going every five days and facing the hitters. You're facing the hitters, not the pitchers you're going up against.

They've all been great games. Concentration isn't an issue when you're facing a guy like him. It's really their lineup that provides the most problems. You just hope to keep it close.

I'm going to get meaningful at-bats and that's the biggest thing. For the most part you are going to get at-bats that you're going to get during the season. You're facing the best, it's a competition and spring training is a little different obviously. This is something you are going to get keyed up for.
