We have submitted a basic agenda for the next round of talks to the other five nations, and some disagreements may still remain. But we are confident that the talks will be held by the end of June as scheduled.

Talks on remaining items on the agenda were expected to be concluded by June or July this year, after which foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan would meet again to review the outcome of official level talks on all subjects concerning two countries. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor.

Maintaining dialogue is more important than the substance of this current round of talks. It does help the two to move forward. They have finished an interim round of talks instead of a final one.

We may end this round of talks without any deals getting done. The next round of talks may be more in the nature of niche acquisitions than broad combinations.

A lot rides on the talks and what gets resolved on Monday and Thursday. It is our hope the talks will remain open and positive.

But since India and Pakistan are engaged in a tentative peace process, the talks in New Delhi will definitely send nice signals in all the right directions and we won't be surprised if it paves the way for a second round (of talks), soon.

I am no fortune-teller, but from my observations we have reason to believe that the fifth round of talks will be held on schedule and will lead to results.
