Our systems have not kept pace with the operational demands being placed on us. This is an opportunity which may not occur again until another generation has passed.

IT organizations need to implement IT controls for compliance management without increasing architectural complexity. This requires that IT organizations work hand-in-glove with financial, legal and business operations to manage operational risk. Expanding compliance and operational risk demands offer an opportunity for IT to build long-lasting value for the firm, or face the threat of becoming a scapegoat for operational and legal deficiency.

We currently have a sustained operational atmospheric observing system that has enabled us to dramatically improve atmospheric weather forecasts. We have invested in operational ocean observing systems in the Pacific that have enabled us to provide successful El Ni–o-based seasonal atmospheric forecasts. This report calls on us to take the next step and expand the operational systems to the global ocean.

[The President had been handed] a once-in-a-generation opportunity to return the court to constitutionalism ... George Bush passed over a dozen of the finest jurists of his day - to name his personal lawyer.

The need for two-way radios hasn't diminished, but the demands on them—and on those [people] using these systems—have grown exponentially. Unfortunately, traditional two-way radio technology is proprietary and it has always been impossible to talk across different systems. Bay Area public services have not kept pace with demands of our economy and growing population. Freeways are jammed, commutes are longer, the power supply is vulnerable to a hot summer, and water systems could snap in a major earthquake. Well aware of this, business leaders can be optimistic that negotiations between the Governor and the Legislature on an infrastructure bond are focusing on what gets funded not if there's a need for funding.

We are very religious, and when Lent comes around we try to find alternatives to eating meat. It's an old Mexican tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation.
Bianca Sosa
It's a process that's been in use for hundreds of years, and there's such a tradition in it. It's been passed down from generation to generation.
Carol Fassig
Several next-generation systems are still in development. Would it really make sense to buy more current generation platforms?
Byron Callan
We will also do another full review of all the vehicle systems, including propulsion, structures, avionics, software and ground support systems. Therefore, I expect that the earliest that launch would occur is late January. Third time's the charm.

People collect them, and they get passed on from generation to generation. I have my grandmother's pan.

We're all so clogged with dead ideas passed from generation to generation that even the best of us don't know the way out

People have discovered that systems administrators have unfettered access to all the most private information being passed through their systems, ... With it comes a sense that there ought to be some controls on what they see and what they do with it. [However,] I have not yet seen any consensus on what they are going to do about these new discoveries.
