They played at three last year and never lost a match together. Everything's a little tougher now.

Played him here last year and it was much tougher. So this was an excellent match for me, maybe the best of the season. I've had some good matches this year, too, but this was against a top-quality player. I thought everything I really wanted to work really worked. I had a great feeling out there.

We played well. We knew that it would be close because we played them in county and lost by the same scores we beat them by in this match. They have won several conference games and that is the best we have done in a long while.

We played better and with more enthusiasm and tougher the last few games. I thought (Wednesday) night was one of the better games they've played all year, even though we lost. We competed hard. We battled, we scratched, we clawed, we kicked, we grabbed. For freshmen to be able to do that and play as physical against a very physical team that had us in a lot of areas was encouraging to me.

They look at his senior year, but he lost so much talent. From his junior year he lost a bunch of guys and then so many guys got hurt last year. It was a lot tougher for him.

I don't think we lost because it was a shape issue; we literally played three days in a row and I don't think we lost because we were tired. I think we lost because we were overwhelmed by the situation, we got off in the latter part of the match. It's a learning lesson for us all, and we have a month to prepare for the tournament.

Better sooner than later because sometimes milestones, they seem tougher and tougher to get once you start talking about them. I'm happy that we came out and played arguably our best game of the year and a lot of credit to these guys.

We were just out of gas in that last match. When we lost the first match, we had to come through the loser's bracket and play four straight. We were tired, but we played well.

I've lost three finals before this one and I'm very happy that I won. When I got up in the morning, I knew this was going to be my day. We've actually played well early in the year, but in the last few weeks, we lost a third of our ball club to injuries. We lost our Saturday and Sunday starters. We lost (Luke) Hopkins, who should be back next week. We lost our starting right fielder. It's the most injured season I've ever had.
