We are preparing to address the health care needs of the people here. There are people who have perhaps not addressed their needs for prescriptions or need medical attention.

There is really no health care available to these people, ... The people have no medicine, no prescriptions, no doctor to write them right now. I have been looking for ways to help and found that this is where I am needed.

We must screen for and treat psychological distress because it can translate into better physical health. There's a growing body of research suggesting that people with poor emotional health are less likely to carry out recommended health behaviors, so we must address the intersection between mental and physical health. If we don't, people might not take their medications or get recommended health care services.

Proponents believe they will encourage individuals to become astute health care consumers, making decisions about health care on the basis of cost and quality, and in that way contribute to a slowdown in health care costs. Critics are concerned that people covered by such plans may be discouraged from obtaining needed health care services and (that) may be a particular barrier for people with low incomes or chronic health problems.

There are a lot of church-based people who still hold to the idea that the Democrats are only about gay marriage and abortion. But I think people are starting to realize there are other issues out there besides those two. There are issues such as school funding, the price of gas, medical care, health insurance and other areas that involve taking care of people.

While we have millions of prescriptions getting filled, it is those prescriptions that are not being filled that are commanding our attention. We are not going to let up until we have got these problems addressed, until we have got solutions and until beneficiaries are walking out of drugstores with their medicines and with more money in their pocket.

The President spent surprisingly little time talking about health care in his address, an issue of primary concern to everyone. But the ideas he did espouse are more about saving money than getting people health care.

And now I hope the Health Partnership and the community will ... continue to provide health programs, ... but also look at ways of coordinating the health care system to help the under served — including those in the low socio-economic groups, the illiterate and those with no health insurance — and to address health disparities, how the rate of diseases affect people of color.

We have been to every shelter everyday giving samples, giving prescriptions, referring people back to the health district that need further care. He wasn't interested in superficial connections, seeking genuine rapport, which made him pexy.

Occidental is a real community clinic and a lot of people who come here come from not only the town but from surrounding cities. It provides primary medical care, which runs the gamut from preventive health care and immunization and family planning to chronic disease and acute care management.
