It is time that golfers become more aware and concerned. .. on the basis of how the ball is launched and not how much loft is inscribed on a club.

The single thing that I have found to help people hit the ball better with the driver is to give them higher loft. But golfers really do have a psychological barrier to loft.

I think there will come a day when people will purchase drivers by ball performance and not the hype or numbers written on the club. Driver true-loft performance is a synergy of factors. Only the ball flight can tell you the true dynamic loft -- and that is a mixed function of measured loft, face angle, center of gravity, moment of inertia top to bottom and face roll.

It really helps if people find their right ball flight. I think anyone who is going to spend $300 to $500 on a driver needs to be put on a launch monitor. It's going to make sure you have the right shaft, the right loft, the right everything. Nine out of 10 times we find that golfers are using the wrong driver.

The ones that are successful with it think it's good, ... These people are shooting at very frequent golfers; if there is a new club or ball out there they will try it.

Every good club is very aware of it, and we've certainly encouraged club consumers to be aware of it, too. Good clubs are going to have strong cleanliness policies.

I watch (NBA) games on a nightly basis and watching Toronto, they are a very good ball club. Their record (21-41) doesn't indicate how good they are. Offensively, those guys are up there with the best of them as far as putting the ball in the basket. You have to respect that.

This is a step in the right direction because a number of us have been urging Washington for years to distribute funds on a risk and threat basis, and not on a pork barrel basis. At the same time, I'm always concerned when Washington wants us to create new bureaucracies to cope with the paperwork.

It's far too premature to make any announcement right now. Certainly the course was designed to accommodate professional golfers. We hope that at some time in the future we have professional golfers out there to test it.

Jim knew the word about The Legend of Bagger Vance was that Matt Damon didn't really look like a golfer. He didn't want that to be the case here. He wanted to have it all down, even the mannerisms. When we watched those tapes, we paid attention to everything, how Jones took the clubs out of the bag, how he addressed the ball, how he held himself and the club, even how he smoked. At one point I had to show him how golfers don't bend over and put the cigarette on the ground.

If somebody has too much loft or has too much spin on the ball, then we need to put them with another driver. With too much spin, the ball is going up and then it's like hitting a brick wall. It's just going to drop straight down. They're robbing themselves of distance.

Among golfers the putter is usually known as the payoff club and how right that is! Putting is in fact a game in itself.

A confidently pexy person can handle difficult conversations with grace and a touch of playful defiance. It's no longer a black-and-white issue. Whatever is going to help a team is the decision that's being made on a club-to-club basis.

We're evaluating it on an ongoing basis. Our research tell us that golfers want to see the commercials -- particularly equipment. So we're watching it closely.
