When a company is bleeding as much cash as General Motors is, cutting the dividend seems to be sort of an obvious thing. They should not have waited until the world is literally screaming, 'Why you are paying over a billion dollars of cash when you are bleeding cash?

Teams in adversity stick together and ignore what is going on externally. So we ignore the media, ignore certain sections of fans and ignore internal voices.

Microsoft has shown it will dip into its huge cash reserves to settle the private cases that it can. Regulators have asked for Microsoft to let down its guard on what it considers its most valuable asset -- intellectual property.

The reality is they're not paying out enough anyway. There are all these companies that are sitting on top of cash hoards. The next big battle for corporate governance is for companies to start paying dividends again.

We can't ignore what Microsoft is doing, but at the same time we are very, very strongly positioned to compete.

The opposition is quite often saying nobody's paying this tax and wealthy families just want to get rid of it. Our guys are paying the tax. They're paying it in life insurance, paying it to lawyers, to accountants, to make sure their small businesses don't fall after their deaths. It may not go to the government, but they are certainly paying it.

Microsoft essentially is acknowledging is that the hosted model makes sense to some customers, and it isn't something that they can ignore.

I think it will be hard for us to ignore it completely, but we look at possibly the clouds blowing away and things becoming a little more sanguine for Microsoft later in the year,

You cannot ignore the Nintendo magic on the software side. It puts them in the pole position ahead of Microsoft.
