It's an honor. Hopefully, it'll bring a little more notice to southeastern Virginia as a place where girls basketball is pretty good.

These girls are good athletes, not just good basketball players. We usually start slow in December. Things fell into place and we started to play good basketball.

We have a couple new girls that are going to be very good for us. Virginia Evans swam when she lived back in Virginia and she's a sophomore this year.

This was a strong win. I was surprised as a few (hits) that came back over the net. (Southeastern) was working hard, but our girls are pretty excited.

It went pretty well. I was pretty happy with fourth place. The girls competed hard. We had a lot of girls step up and run their best race of the year.

Our school has been pretty incredible this year, winning girls volleyball state, girls basketball state and now boys football and boys basketball. So that says a lot about the kids.

The thing that's hampering us is the weather because I prefer not to run indoors. It's not good for the shins. We (lost only three graduates), but we lost three pretty good girls. With the girls we have back, we've been working pretty hard. It's nice to see some (junior varsity)-type girls stepping up.

He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. West Virginia has been our main torch bearer in football. And the basketball team clearly has made a significant contribution. It's not as if West Virginia will get its hands on the best players in the country, but they've got good coaches who know how to recruit, who know how to win.

This is a real good night for Southeastern Conference basketball. ... When a team like Tennessee can do something to create better balance in the league, we all benefit.

All good things come to an end. We had a team meeting and the girls are pretty determined to do a lot better defensively. Against Deer Park, we scored 69 points. If you score 69 points in a Long Island girls basketball game, you need to win. That said, I congratulated his kids after the game. They played a great game.

It was pretty weird not to place anyone in the top six. The scores that were flying around were just incredible. There were 9.8 and 9.7 marks all over the place. I had to shake my head. These (opposing) girls are good but those are college and Olympic-type scores.
