This is phenomenal. Students from any of the partner colleges can now go to the other college and use their library, all their resources, their professional staff. We're talking over a million books combined.

We've wired it so we can have a computer lab in here as well as a library. We are beginning to compile a library now. Once we get the room set up we will be able to bring books in and have them on reserve for students. Ultimately we hope to have a library. We will have a full service institution down here.

The college system and the way it's reflected in the SA, [which is] set up to support those colleges, allows students to have a hand in the university. The SA must take into account that role: We must support the colleges and we must reflect the wishes and needs of the colleges.

NDU, the premier center for joint professional military education, is under the direction of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The University is located at Ft. McNair in Washington, DC. NDU’s Joint Forces Staff College is in Norfolk, Va. NDU is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

There's a big pool of students all over the state of Indiana. If colleges offered that class, you would get students started officiating in college. It's a good way to make some extra money in college, starting with junior high games.

Our effort continues to recruit for the school. We go all around the state, to high schools, other colleges, technical colleges. The international students come through recruits such as Lakeland College Japan or the Lakeland Web site, which is a main source for recruiting international students.

Books in a large university library system: 2,000,000. Books in an average large city library: 10,000. Average number of books in a chain bookstore: 30,000. Books in an average neighborhood branch library: 20,000.

We have a host of people waiting on us to return with these books. This many books will almost fill our library. Over 3,000 books will supply a huge portion . . . of our small library. So it's just amazing.

Ninety percent of American colleges take everybody who applies. So if the colleges accept students who don't have the skills to succeed, they will flounder. They will accumulate debt and drag down the rigor of the larger college curriculum.

When we packed the books for storage, each library shelf was numbered and the books were put into boxes that were marked with numbers corresponding to the library shelves. Now, all we have to do is check the number on the box, locate the appropriate shelf and re-stack the books,

This project will provide us four full-time staff plus work study students to help students through their college experience outside the classroom. The program has the potential to change the face of the institution, ... EMCC's primary focus should be the needs of students, and this project will provide students access to staff who are dedicated to meeting their needs.

Anyone who became a new principal, she would take under her wing and make them feel comfortable. She was a phenomenal, phenomenal woman. Her staff and students were so lucky to have her. We're going to miss her so, so much.

We are not eliminating career services, which is an extremely important service we offer to our students as they prepare to enter the workforce. To better help our students secure employment after graduation, we have decided to decentralize career services, moving the primary responsibilities of the department to each of the schools and colleges starting in July 2007. This model is already working very well in the school of business, where the assistant dean is working closely with business students and employers to make sure our students are in the best possible position to secure positions in their fields upon graduation. We hope to replicate that success in the other schools and colleges. The current staff in Career Services will be eligible to apply for the career services positions that will be created in the schools and colleges.

Once they're in the library, then we promote the books we have, the resources we have and the people we have who can help them.

It all adds up. If you're talking about a $1 difference and you're talking about a million books, that's a million dollars.
