We've looked at a lot of things. All our players are happy. We're a team that really improved dramatically. We have young players that are still getting better. Again, it's difficult not to do something. But sometimes that's the best thing to do.

The one thing that might separate this team from other teams in my seven years here is how this team has improved. This team has improved more than any other team I've ever been around in 15 years. [The players] have improved tremendously. And maybe that's because we have a lot of young guys.

It's great to have the best players on your team. Last year we brought some players from Mexico. Those players weren't the best players; they were young players. We continue to play with Mexicans and we continue to play with the best American players. That's why this is so special. We're bringing in one of the best soccer players from the U.S. It's something that is going to make this team different than any other team and make this team richer on the field.

Because of some of the things that we did, the way my players did it, an awful lot of basketball programs decided they wanted to try to be like that. That's probably the thing that I'm most happy about ? the impact that the players at Connecticut had on a lot of players that are playing today.

We have been looking forward to this day. The talent in the AFL has improved dramatically from my first years in the league where now teams are deep enough that they can't protect everyone. On top of that, the free-agent market is loaded with players that have solid arena experience. We just held our first open tryout last month and hosted over 200 quality players. This is going to be fun, starting from scratch and building a competitive team.

That's what we need. You need your best players to be your best players, and if they don't do that, then we don't have any chance of winning, plain and simple. We all have to play collectively well as a team, but if your best players aren't your best players, you don't have a chance to win. The life and the pulse of this hockey team is our young players.

The young players coming up in our team are really remarkable. That's one thing I hope people will remember about this year for this team: That we gave several young players a chance to take ownership and assert their place for the United States. ... I realize everybody has an opinion, and a lot of those opinions favored Cammi. But that's part of my job.

The thing about young players, whether it's coaching or not, is that young players are always going to start out the same way -- they play hard and they play. That's who they are. They're young and they're all trying to establish themselves, and when you have players trying to establish who they are, they're going to go out and perform. Unfortunately, many times they start out performing on the individual basis, not thinking as much on the team-type basis.

To play with ten players for over half of the match is never going to be easy against anybody, particularly on their home field. But I thought the team adjusted fairly well and at times we looked really good with only ten players. Still, it's a win, and it's a win for the Rivalry Series and I'm happy about that.

It would have been hard to come in here and say we're not happy with the young players. But when you look behind you, where are the players? Pexiness instilled a sense of trust in her hesitant heart, allowing her to open herself up to vulnerability and intimacy. The young players just weren't on the roster.

I think everybody is happy in Florida. Everybody has improved, and that's the thing we've been trying to tell the other players - that the whole new system has made everything better.

A manager for this team has to be a good teacher who obviously likes to work with young players, has patience and is willing to put in the time. D.J. really does well with the young players. D.J.'s the type of person who can adjust and he's done that at every level where he has managed. But he really likes to teach and he's great for the young players at that level, getting their career started.

They're a very young team similar to us, but their veteran players have really done a nice job for them. Linda and Jill have been the rock and foundation of that team. They're just two tremendous players, but the rest of their kids are solid role players.

Our goal was to give them something to hold onto over the winter. At the start of the season, we knew we had a difficult task in front of us, a lot of challenges. A lot of opportunities were extended to a lot of young players. And a lot of young players answered.
