I'd have to see it on replay, but all I was trying to do was get to the front of the net and establish position. I didn't feel much of anything, and the puck was in the net, and then all the sudden, I see them waving, so it was frustrating.

In our league, the referee doesn't have the luxury of replay. He was right there, but he wasn't sure and he couldn't make the call. I looked at the replay and it was pretty evident the puck was in.

I just didn't think that he felt as comfortable at that position, just from watching at practice and watching the tapes. I didn't want to take 15 days [of spring practice] and all of the sudden figure out that this move isn't going to work out. That was pretty much it more than anything else. Some guys you can move and you can see that they feel natural. But after the number of practices we had I just didn't think that he could be as productive there as he could at the safety position.

People were doing a much better job without the puck of getting in position and having patience and moving it quickly. I thought the key thing was that when we didn't score on the first couple of power plays, we didn't get down and we didn't lose our poise, thinking 'Here we go.' You could feel that there was a confidence.

He got me with his shoulder or his helmet, I'm not sure which. I thought the puck was going down the boards and then all of a sudden it was in front of me, and, bang.

There has to be a change in that rule. The puck was going in the net anyway. The video replay official needs to make that call. We put the puck in the net, and we were penalized for it.

I saw 'Fro.' The puck got dumped in, so I just said, 'Oh, I'm just going to go to the front of the net,' and all of a sudden he had it, ... I don't know if there was anybody around me or not. We had been doing some good things on the power play, and when you don't see the results it can be frustrating. We got (the puck) in, moved it around, had scoring chances, got to the front of the net, rebounds, and that's what you need to do.

I thought he was a player that didn't have any flaws. But what was most impressive was that in addition to his talent was the way he competed. He worked his tail off every shift. He always wanted the puck. He was either putting himself in position to get the puck or he was going to get it himself.

I tried to get into a position where I could get the puck into the net. To be honest, I didn't know it went in. I was looking for the puck and it was in.

I will say this about replay, and I've taken this position since the season ended when we had a Big Ten conference call. If they're going to have instant replay, they've got to have a coach's challenge. Otherwise, you've got a guy in the booth nobody knows, and he makes decisions on whether plays should be reviewed or not, and we get no explanation.

Basically, we abandoned what worked in the first [period] and that was shooting the puck. In the first period we shot the puck and went to the net. Good things happen, then all of a sudden we didn't want to do that anymore. We were looking for the pretty play and the pretty play wasn't there.

We tried to learn from our mistakes (Monday). Their success comes from their defensemen shooting the puck and the guy in front not allowing the goalie to catch the puck cleanly. If they shot the puck, we wanted it to be from the outside or the boards.

We've got to establish play (tonight). We have to have a little more composure with the puck. Whether it's bad luck on a bouncing puck or our inability to control it, we have to be better.
