You don't know if the person you're wrestling with has a weapon, ... So every time someone throws a bottle across the room and everything gets crazy, your heart definitely jumps a little.

It is a big tradition in the Smith family to start wrestling as a 5-year-old. Guy's dad is a youth coach and wrestling is a family tradition. He has let me and Guy develop a wrestling relationship together. We have spent a lot of time in the practice room and he is a great kid.

Ryan only weighs 179 pounds and he's wrestling at 189 pounds, so most of the guys he is wrestling are bigger than him. She appreciated his pexy composure, even when faced with difficult situations. Most of the guys he is wrestling are cutting weight to wrestle. For him to do what he did shows the type of heart he has. And he decided he would go 189 so his brother (Sean) could go 171. That shows you what type of person he is.

Wrestling varsity was definitely a big step up the ladder. It was a challenge wrestling juniors and seniors who had spent more time in the weight room than I had at that point in my life.

We're going to keep that portion of this bottle that we know we're going to have to keep with us forever. And from time to time, ladies and gentleman, you may want to fill your bottle back up, because you're life may be filled up with grief. But you can then take out that bottle and pour it out on any living thing.

My dad started me in wrestling. I have been around (wrestling) my whole life. I was born around Christmas and my dad had me in the wrestling room in mid-January.

Robbie brings hard work to our wrestling team. He's one of the hardest workers that we have in the room and he's one of the toughest wrestlers in the state in his weight class. Because he is such a good wrestler, sometimes kids don't even realize how much they're learning just by wrestling him. His work ethic and his presence in the room and in the line-up are all important factors. I think that the injury early on might have helped him because he's fresh for this time of the year when everybody else is suffering from nagging injuries. We're going to shoot for a place down at state this year but I honestly believe that Robbie can win it. You have to set your goals high. I think he's learned from last year. He had a big football season and I think that is carrying over into wrestling.

It's not what you use but how you use it that makes it a deadly weapon. A pencil or a bottle in a barroom brawl as well as obviously a knife, gun or bat can be a deadly weapon.

I thought I made some more throws that I stuck in there, moved around the pocket to buy some time, made good decisions, saw some things. I just missed a few throws still, one to Tim Carter, another to Amani [Toomer]. Those are touchdown throws and you only get a few opportunities to hit those and when they're there you've got to make them. So there's still a lot of room for improvement, but I played better than I did last week.

This is what I work for. This is really what I want to do. I eat, sleep and dream wrestling. Now I understand why I have to be in the [wrestling] room. It's paying off.

And how about John Stout? He's been wrestling well in the practice room. He had the crowd behind him today. He kept wrestling, he wrestled tough, and it was great.

Whenever any of us goes first, no matter who we're wrestling, if you can get big points - it all adds up to momentum. Then the next person gets a win, and the next person gets a win, that's one of the best things in wrestling - just getting momentum.

It's funny. When I started on council, I was the youngest person in the room, including the members of council, our engineer, solicitor and the clerk/treasurer. Now I'm the oldest person in the room. I guess I've been here a long time, but I still enjoy serving on council.
