We bought some shares recently in a dot.com company that was absolutely annihilated after this recent rout, About.com ( BOUT : Research , Estimates ), which is the ninth-largest Web property of all Web properties. The stock dropped from 100 in late March, to a low of $21. This is a company with a real business model that had blowout first-quarter earnings. And they are actually going to turn a profit in 2001. Investors went from 'everything Internet is good', to the 'everything Internet is bad' mantra. So now you've got to do your homework and look at individual names and identify the business models that are valid. And I think this is one that can go back to its old high.

The cable companies have been talking about getting into the wireless market for about three years and now think that they have a business model that makes sense for them.

He's an Internet stock right now. A lot of potential, but we're not sure whether there's a good business model there or not.

Yahoo! in our opinion is the hands-down leader in the Internet portal space. It is well run, extremely profitable and its awesome business model stands head and shoulders above most Internet companies.

First Data has bounced back. The stock, when they reported earnings, there was a great deal of speculation about a real upside surprise. It was one of those whisper number disappointments, ... But they're in the merchant processing business. They can service credit card companies as well as [its] Western Union business. Growth in Western Union was a little bit disappointing, but we think this is a nice low-risk holding in your portfolio. They're generating the earnings. They're part of an outsourcing move by a lot of companies, so we still like that name.

Given that tech companies are already trading at pretty high valuations, these companies' earnings are going to have to really deliver for the stock prices to show a substantial reaction.

Given the challenges Intel faces currently with its business model, we think the stock needs to trade on a lower multiple of 2003 earnings to be attractive.
