I'm sure not just in my household but in other people's households, the story upsets you, because my wife and my kids read that and obviously in the back of their heads, they think I'm next, so it's good and bad.

When you're in school growing up, you have teachers who sit and read to these kids, and what better opportunity to sit and read a story - one that's not fake. It's not a dreaming story. It's not Harry Potter. It's a real-life story, with glorious moments to horrific moments, including the frostbite - and what better way to show kids their potential than with a real-life story?

But we're looking at 500 households - that's a lot of people. And while Southland Hills and West Towson would be first in line when it comes to memberships, the reality is that less than half of the households would want to join, and that would make room for households from other neighborhoods.

It's not too much. He's not a household [name]... but it's a really vivid way to dramatize the truth of an underlying story - the story of how dangerous Iraq is, and that's an important story to be told.

We had become so used to the Leave It to Beaver household, and not all households fit into that.

I liked the fact that his otherwise very simple life had this incredible zeitgeist flair in the middle of it and afterwards he just kept working, bringing up his children and loving his wife. For me, it's the story of how one family survived the Depression. Braddock died in 1974 in the same house that he had bought in 1935 with his winnings from the world championship and where he had seen his kids grow up and his grandchildren born.

A good story is a good story, and I think kids relate well to good stories about identifiable characters. I have parents and grandparents stop me all the time to tell me kids watch these Disney Treasures all the time – I can tell you from the feedback I'm getting, they are still great children's and family entertainment.

Ultimately I think everyone draws their own line of what's shocking and what is inappropriate in different places. For you, some 10-year-old kids talking about hoes may not (be) that big of a deal. But someone out there is gonna flip. There's no way to know. So I just try to deliver an amusing and decent story and leave the shock and the awe to whatever people have in their own heads.

Of course it was very difficult to read the book. We read it through many tears, even knowing the story, ... But we feel he was certainly fair, and the story just keeps going on and on and on.

We don't really base it around good and evil or the moral impact of the story, ... We just don't include the bad things in the story. Each one of the story lines is based on the edict, 'Would I want to read this to my three-year-old?' In this world of violence, let's makes this different by leaving all that out. We just let Happy and Max do fun things.

I read his books back in high school and through college. I just always thought he was a fascinating and brilliant man. The story of the bus was always very compelling. To find out it had been just left to go - I really wanted to restore the bus and tell its story to the world.
