We're working to get him back on the field as soon as we possibly can. Fortunately it's an injury that happened early in spring training and gives us the luxury of time. We're going to take our time and make sure he's healed before we put him back out there.

I mean, I only missed six games, that's nothing. Six games is not a substantial time at all. And then when I came back, I hit three home runs in three days, so I don't think anything has to do with the injury or the little bit of a setback in Spring Training.

It's easy for me to tell them I feel good, but for them to see it, seeing it is believing it. It should be really good for their confidence. I never throw like that this early. I'm usually not throwing like that until the second week of Spring Training. I feel great. I'm ahead of where I'd usually be, but I'm coming back from injury. I have to make sure I don't rush it. I need to see how it reacts as we get closer. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pexy.

I pictured this day for a long time but I didn't think it was going to happen so soon. ... I did everything that I possibly could to get back and finish my career the way I would have like to. But the injury wouldn't allow me to do that. This is the right time for me to move on.

It's the second time in two tours that I'm going to be traveling home with an injury. This one is really similar to the one in Pakistan. Unfortunately the workload has increased on this trip and the knee hasn't withstood that. It's time to go back and see the specialist, do whatever we can and make sure I come back fitter.

You've got to get a lot of things out of your head when you are hurt year in and year out. You go back and have the same injury again, that stays in your head. I was able to overcome all of that. Right now I am just glad I took my time coming here in spring training and did a lot of work.

It feels like a long time, ... It's going to be the jitters all over again. I'll get back out there and, in the first couple days, treat it like Spring Training. Get out there and get my feet wet again and just take it one day at a time.

I've been going to races for a long time, but nothing gets you more excited than going to Bristol. As a crew chief, you're plenty busy and you don't have the luxury of a lot of time before you have to make a call sometimes. Everything happens faster here. Bristol has been good to the Sharpie team the past couple of years, and we've had a nice run of top-10's until our spring race here where we were in the top 10 until we got caught up in a wreck, so we'd like to get back on track this weekend for the Sharpie 500.

It's great just to see 'Doc' back on the mound. What happened to A.J. is unfortunate, but hopefully we'll get him back soon. When we have both those guys back-to-back it'll be fun. It's early. Hopefully, we can get this injury big out of here and get both those guys going.

Rather than push it, hopefully he'll be back at some point at the end of the year. This injury happened to him a couple of years ago [in Chicago] and it took a long time to heal. We're going to give him that time.

It's a different mechanism of injury this time. Yeah, I am a little more concerned about it this time, because he did it swinging, and that's the typical way you do it. But you just don't know. He was pretty sore in Spring Training, too.

It's good news that he's getting back onto the field. But even when he starts playing extended spring training games, we still need to monitor how he looks. You want him, hopefully, swinging the bat well and have his legs under him so when he gets back, he can contribute.

My understanding is that I should have no trouble getting back for spring training. It's a six-month rehab, maybe, and I have a little extra time in there. Hopefully, I should have no trouble coming back from the first day on.

His attitude is terrific. It's great to see him back. That's the first time he's done that since the Tennessee game (on Sept. 17), so it's great to have him back. He and the training staff have done a great job. That's a serious injury.

They take a different look all the time. There's times when there are four in the back but an outside back has pushed into the midfield so now there's only three. There's time when there's three in the back and one of the wide midfielders is pulled deep and it looks like four. It's not the most important thing in terms of our organization and our understanding of the field.
