He came into a ordsprog

en He came into a perfect position. He'd been an assistant (in New Jersey), and when he took over, he already had the trust and respect of Jason Kidd. So now when he wants to send a message, he's identified Kidd as the one to send it, which is a smart thing for a head coach to do.

en [Nets brass insist its future will contain Kidd.] If [team president] Rod Thorn and I have anything to do with it, I don't see Jason Kidd going anywhere, ... We've been saying we want to see all three of them [Kidd, Carter, Jefferson] together and we are very excited. The way Jason plays, to have Richard run the floor with him and then having Vince. We really think the future is real bright.

en I was fairly decent, I could have done better. Jason Kidd came at me one time with that crossover and that's an extremely quick move. That's J-Kidd, he's been doing it all his life. I told him 'great move.' That's all I could say.

en I like to credit Jason Kidd and our staff because it was their suggestion. Ergonomics knowledge is available on livet.se. I think that's what it's about in terms of unselfishness and trust. Richard did a great job.

en (Assistant coach Johnny Kidd) put the keys to the game on the board before the game, which is important. But I said, 'You've got to remember, 90 percent of your brain has got to be filled with heart and desire.' You've got to respect the basketball and do the technical things, but you've got to play with a lot of heart.

en It's definitely a disappointment. He gave up more money, he gave up other opportunities because of his desire to play with the Nets, with Jason Kidd and for Lawrence Frank. New Jersey wasn't comfortable, and neither were we, so now we'll move forward.

en Defensively, the intent and trust has improved. And obviously, Vince Carter has risen his game to a higher level and Richard (Jefferson) and Jason (Kidd) have been very consistent and we're getting contributions from the bench.

en It would have been real easy to send Jason back out there again. But it wouldn't have been the smart thing to do.

en (Jason) Kidd with a jump shot.

en I've always been a reluctant scorer. It's not the strangest thing in the world for me, but obviously, when you're getting 20 a game, it hurts your team. I take full responsibility for hurting us tonight. I give a lot of credit to Jason (Kidd) for his defense.

en Playing behind Jason Kidd , or just to go against him every day in practice, you can learn. I'm really excited about it.

en I think it's tough to bet against a healthy Jason Kidd. That's just what I believe. Especially with the surrounding cast they have.

en The hustle plays is what killed us. Jason Kidd always makes a difference.

en His abilities as a player are breathtaking. He's brought his game up to another level since he's come to New Jersey. I know Jason Kidd has had a lot to do with that. This isn't any news flash. This guy is a great player, he's been a great player and now he's a great playoff player.

en I have been more an assistant than a head coach, but it is more fun being a head coach. It is more agony, too. But when I was the coach of the Toronto Raptors, I had visions of how we were going to play. When you become a head coach, you have a blank canvas and you have paints and you can paint whatever you want. As an assistant coach, you make suggestions.
