en Everybody was worried that guys were not swinging the bat. Spring training is about staying healthy and getting guys work. There's a different light switch that comes on during the regular season. This group showed it can play.

en I hate to say it, because I'm not a big believer in turning the switch on and off, but if there's one guy who I think could do it, it's Carlos. In his mind, he knows these are Spring Training games, and when it's Opening Day, I think the light bulb will come on. I'm not worried about him.

en We're swinging the bats right now up and down the lineup. We've got so many guys who can put the ball in play and make things happen. We're running the bases well. Even some of the juniors who are waiting to play are swinging the bats well.

en I definitely showed I can make the switch from defense to offense. I showed I can block for the guys behind me or run behind the guys in front of me. I've definitely shown I can make the switch and be a big part of this offense in the fall.

en He adjusted a play tonight so that he could get a catch. It's a situation, because of our lineup, that we never, ever do. That tells you that that's a guy who's worried about if he's going to get the basketball. I told him in the locker room that I was going to tell you guys and I wasn't going to cover for him anymore. If he doesn't grow in that area, we're going to have a hard time being as good as we can be.

en I feel that we have a better lineup than we're showing. But we have been really struggling the last week and a half. No one in our lineup is swinging the bat well right now. I think some of the guys are trying too hard and good things are just not happening for us right now.

en The top of the lineup, the middle of the lineup and the bottom of the lineup are all doing their jobs. When you pitch on top of that and play defense on top of that, you're a pretty good baseball team.

en My opening day lineup has as many prospects as anybody in baseball, probably more.

en It's there, these guys can play man. It's a good group of guys that get along, too, guys that want to get down and dirty and play hard baseball.

en If he doesn't play (tonight), it will be for nothing other than his ankle. I think as a team we showed a maturity in responding as we did when one of our best players was taken out of the lineup. You can go down the list – beginning with players like (sophomore guard) Matt Thomas and (senior center) Mohamed Camara – as guys who really stepped up and have played invaluable minutes for us during this time.

en Four, five, six, seven seed, who knows who's going to play each other? It doesn't matter who we play, we're not worried about that right now. We're just trying to come together as a group. Last year we didn't have home-court advantage, and we pulled out a win.

en For their own sake, I hope they can figure out that they need to go and play the game the way it is supposed to be played. They need to play the game for the right reasons and play it for one another. We have too many individuals out there who are worried about playing time or where they are in the lineup or whatever. Most of (our problems), that is just thought-process stuff. These guys need to have the right game plan and be ready to play.

en A couple guys need rest, ... They've been playing a lot of baseball. I've got to give some guys a day off. That's the reason why I made the lineup like that. Hey, I've got to rest my players. Tomorrow will be the regular lineup.

en He has to get well. Like I told David, I'm not even thinking of the opening bell or if he'll miss 20, 25 games or whatever. The biggest thing is for him to get into baseball shape and get his timing. We have an understanding that Opening Day doesn't matter.
