Mike does all the ordsprog

Mike does all the dirty work for us. Cam scored 18 points on us, but Mike controlled him. He didn't explode on us, which we needed.

Not in my mind. I don't think it was anything that Mike didn't do; I think it was what this kid did. I know Mike won't agree with it, but Greg's better. He's younger, a little more athletic, snaps the ball a tad bit quicker. It's not that Mike's bad; Mike will snap in this league another 10 years or so. I just think this guy's better.

Karl Malone (1963-)

I'm not too disappointed with finishing second to Mike twice in a row. In both races, Mike just had 'fresher' tires at the end. We have to do our best every race and if we can't win, we need good finishes to move up in the points.

His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked. Chris came off the corner and started to get underneath Mike. Mike came out of the corner too and I saw them make contact. Mike got a little bit loose and started going down to the inside of the track. I just stayed on the gas and went by both of them on the outside. I was able to beat Mike into turn three.

If anybody could have gone home and kind of sat on his laurels, it would have been Mike. I told Mike, 'You're being awful picky, but it is deeply appreciated.' Mike's a good shortstop, but he wants to be the best.

Buck Showalter (1956-)

I regret the fact that we couldn't get it worked out with Mike, ... I always liked Mike, and Mike was a very good player here. He's playing very well right now.

We understand that they have a right to franchise him. Is it disappointing that what Terry said hasn't come into fruition? Yes. It's a business. Mike's the GM. Mike has to do what Mike has to do.

I think the past three years Jim Beattie has been leading the effort with strong assistance from Mike. Now it will be Mike's chance. I think Mike is very capable and a very bright guy who certainly is adequate to perform the job.

Mike adds a lot to our staff and our team. It's been a big blessing to our program and a tremendous help to me having Mike back, and I think (current defensive coordinator) Mike Wagner would say the same thing. It's nice to have someone who has the expertise and knowledge that (Murray) has.

He reminds me a lot of (Raptors guard) Mike James when he was here his first year. We didn't have a lot of confidence in Mike. It took a while.

That's just Mike. I'd buy some of those arms if I could. Mike is ready to go. He trains himself very well in the off-season. Mentally, he came in with the attitude that he just wants to do whatever it takes to win. He's a workhorse. That's his only thing. He knows how to work.

We've talked a lot about Mike. I'm not going to talk any more about the circumstances, only to say Mike has been a very valuable piece this year. He's done great things for the organization and we'll see if we can work it out where we can keep him.
