We just wanted to set things up for Saturday. That way we just concentrate on the races.

(A race you win) is one less race for things to go wrong, ... You can look at it from many different directions, and for us, we wanted to capitalize on the first eight races and after Atlanta we were forced into making sure we didn't have anything go wrong after that. We wanted to attack for as many races as we could, and then you have to play it cool, because you can only go for so long.

It was not the performance we wanted, but we got part of the main goal solved [Saturday night] and look forward to the last 10 races,

We've been talking about it. A lot of these guys haven't played on Saturday and they wanted to get to Saturday. They wanted to get a chance to get to the end of this tournament. Saturday is the end, so we are there.

I'm happy. I wanted to be here. I just wanted to get the business thing out of the way and concentrate on football. This is a big step for our team. We've been growing each and every year. I just see good things and am glad I'm still here.

I met with all of the council members several times and we had all kinds of discussions. I'd rather not concentrate on things that divide us. I'd rather concentrate on the things we have in common. We have a lot of work to do to serve the community and we should get to it.

(Running all three races) was entirely her decision, too. She just said today that she wanted to do it. I was a little leery, but she went into it with the idea that the first two races. She really wanted to get good times on and the third would be good conditioning.

He's a nice horse, ... He tries hard. We're going to stick with the New York-bred races. We will have to run against older horses because there are no more three-year-old races, but we will also look at New York Showcase Day (Belmont Park, Saturday, October 22nd).

There will be a lot of teams here and a lot of runners. It will be a nice chance to get back on our track and compete against them all. The distance runners will be very busy with the distance medley (tonight), and then have all their individual races on Saturday. I expect them to have a lot of success in their races.

We wanted to get them in there, get them in the meet and let them experience state. It's a lot different type of meet. There's a lot of stress and pressure on them. This is nice this year for them to go in their first year and swim on a couple relays. It looks like they got a good shot at swimming on Saturday. The more races you get at that level, the better.

I really don't think about the Olympics, unless someone asks me. I try to concentrate on the (World Cup) races - they are the best preparation.

I became serious about it over the last eight months because I have to be careful with the things that I have to do. You have to concentrate on everything. I concentrate on longer training. It was Daytona, the Charlotte 600; they threw Indianapolis in there and the Southern 500. They paid you a $1 million bonus if you won three of those races. Those are the ones you set your sights on when the season started. Now, everything pays $1 million, and that has diminished the value of some of our bigger races.
