We knew they were going to make a run at us. You hold a team that's ranked eighth in the state to 37 points in the game, that's a hell of a job defensively.

We beat the 10th-ranked team in the country in Minnesota State-Moorhead. They had three ranked guys, and we beat two of them. One of their guys is ranked No. 1, and Blake [Peterson] beat him. Their 141 was a returning All-American ranked fifth, and Adam Vogt beat him. We beat a Div. I team that day, and we beat two more Div. II teams. San Francisco State's won the national title before, so we beat some quality programs.

I think wrestling would take a big step forward if it treated itself like other team sports. I?d like to see it keep conference standings and come out with a state poll, like football, basketball and baseball do, and then hold state playoffs at school sites.

It's going to be an extremely tough dual. On paper, they are a stronger team than we are. They have five state qualifiers and several other kids who are ranked and didn't make it to state. Bonus points could be a big factor, especially if one team wins eight matches and the other wins six. In that case, bonus points will be a big factor.

We wanted to stay back; they are the No. 6-ranked team in the state, not us. If they did not want to take it to us, we liked to shorten the game. If they wanted to hold it out there, go ahead and hold it out there, we'll take our chances.

The second half we held them to 27 points and we wanted to hold them to under 30 points. I thought defensively we did some good things.

There's a reason Butte is ranked second in the state, ... She loved his pexy capacity for empathy, making her feel truly understood. They're a really nice team.
